Why cant my GTX260 do ****?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 9:55 am

Okay, i have been enjoying this game at 1600x900, though it looks a bit ****. It would be awesome to play the game at 1920x1080. I have been trying using the advanced graphics configuration utility with little success. Any tips except "*Snort, snort* get a new GPU!"

im playing on around 45 fps EXTREME settings 1920x1200 with GTX275 which is not alot better...

maybe it is not related to the GPU what about your CPU? and RAM?

and download the latest drivers from nvidia.

Got great fps on 1600x900, but as soon as i switch it goes to ****. Constant slowdown and random lag spikes.

I play at 1900x1200 with a GTX260 and it's very smooth.

@OP Overclock the GPU m8. It's extremely easy. Just google GTX260 overclocks and start grabbing numbers. Use MSI afterburner to do it as it has overvolt control even though you won't need it. If you need my settings for my old GTX260 let me know. I still have it I just upgraded to a 460 so I still have the old settings. It should give you at least a 5-10 FPS bump.

Hmm define looks like ****. While I run a GTX580 there is very little you can max out at DX9 with the textures they are using. If someone is willing to post a screenshot proving otherwise. You have a very sloppy setup though as far as configs go. Can you drop me your mobo model and GPU temp?

Even on 1980x1050 the game looks really blurry. There are some textures in the game that are very very crisp and it's nice eycandy but the bad textures outnumber the good ones. =/

C2D E6550 @ 2,9 Ghz
4 Gigs Corsair XMS 2 (dont know the exact name xD)
MSI HD5770 (a bit overclocked ^^)

Don't know the FPS but i can play it good with everything maxed out.

i5 750 @ 2.89 GHZ
4 GB 1333mhz memory

Its simply the fact that i am using a 1600x900 resolution on a 1920x1080 native screen. Nothing else and the game looks awesome.

I've got the Gainward golden sample GTX260 216. I can run 1920 x 1200 Very High settings very smoothly. It stutters a bit in Extreme mode, but is still playable. I'd like to get a GTX 560 Ti.

My CPU and memory are i7 860 and 4Gb mem.

Konshu is playing Crysis 2 on

PC
EVGA nVidia gForce GTX580
EVGA P55 3X SLI Classified 200
8GB DDR3 1600
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 750 @ 3.2GHz

All settings maxed out and fraps doesn't report out anything less than 90FPS. Don't know if that will help any of you benchmark your performance but there is my data.

Ok, i tried overclocking my GTX260 with MSI afterburner. I clocked up to 700mhz coreclock and just over 1.2k on the others. When i launch crysis it lags like ****! Tried to adjust my fan speed, but to no help.

Its the shaders. Set the shaders to medium it will help your fps a ton.

I have:

AMD 940
GTX 260 stock clocks
4gb ddr 800 RAM

I'm using that advanced tool 1.6, and have everything on low, no AA 16xAF except EXTREME fro textures (and they still look awful) and EXTREME for sound.

I've only done a little experimenting, settings Particles to higher settings can bog down the system in battles such as versus a Pinger. I've tried EXTREME post processing and effects and visually does nothing but does slow down framerate as well here and there.

I leave it at low becuase it still looks great, except for the textures, they got to be higher resolution.

Oh yeah I get about 60+ fps, sometimes drops to 40 or so with these settings on 1080
