Why couldn't I kill Serana at first sight?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 4:33 am

Another issue I have with the start of this questline:

Why is Serana even talking to me at the start? If she had really been imprisoned in that tomb for 40 centuries without feeding she should have been damned near feral with hunger after I freed her. The only thing she should have done when she saw my character was attack me at first sight, not ask for my help.
i think she was also held in a kind of stasis because she seems reather pristine

but think about it you only know about the plot because of non ingame influences. the dovakin has no idea they have a larger plan for the scroll
Vampires = evil. Elderscrolls = the most powerful artifacts in that reality. Like I said earlier with the terrorist with a nuke anology, you don't have to be a genius to figure out that they probably aren't trying to make Tamriel a better place with the Scroll. You may not know their exact plans with it, but you know they're up to no good. And that's reason enough to kill her right there. Or at least it would have been to me and my Nord if I'd have had any say in it.

I don't think that pure bloods have to feed. Why else is Valerica not stage 4?

I'm pretty sure the blood that comes from our hand, which in turn opens her jail cell thing goes to her in order to wake her up from her long slumber as well. Obviously I have no proof, but it would make for a sensable explanation.

And as for why you'd trust her ... has anyone tried taking her to Fort Dawnguard first before taking her to the vampire castle? Maybe there's extra dialogue tucked in there that could fill in that little plot hole.

My "mindset" would be to keep the vampires from getting an elder scroll. I (my character) knows what an elder scroll is. He's also a dedicated worshipper of the Nine. There is no way my character would allow Serana to take that Elder Scroll anywhere. I should have been allowed to decapitate her as soon as that monolith thing opened up.
You will NOT hurt Serana! Lol :P

Yeah..the spike that comes up and stabs your hand..that probably leaks down into her mouth so she did feed technically, hence why I'd say explains why she is so eager to turn you into a Vampire even if you choose to be a Vampire Hunter.

First blood in an age leads her to immediatly become infatuated with you..later in the story of course she blatantly falls in love with you and starts flirting with you tempting you with vampirism, I personally sided with the vampires..cured Harkon's disgusting gift and accepted Serana's gift.

I'm not trying to be antagonistic. it just seriously made no sense for my character to help Serana at all. Ever. No matter how hot she is. I really think Bethesda dropped the ball on this one.

But what can you expect? Its not Morrowind.

The best anology I can come up with is this:
My character is a Navy SEAL tasked to kill terrorists. I find a terrorist carrying a nuclear bomb. So instead of killing the terrorist, I escort him to his hideout and help him deliver the bomb to his superiors. Then I have the option of either joining them, or leaving.

It MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL.
The terrorists anology isn't fitting. You know, double agents work with the enemy, sometimes for years, and even performing tasks that damage their own country. It's a way to gain the trust of the opposed party, even at the expense of some collateral damage.
