Why did enemies not respawn in 'dungeons'?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 11:37 pm

I think its because of the setting, the population is small in numbers (because of the apocaypse) & also because the interiors are less interesting than oblivions dungeons. With oblivions fantasy setting it made sence. What does everyone else think

You have to wait three days for them to respawn.

God it's been so long I'm not certain any more. Granted I've been modded for a long while now.

They do respawn in a couple interiors in the vanilla game, but in general, interior enemies do not respawn.

Well, I definitely don't agree that Oblivion dungeons are more interesting. But, I would agree that the fantasy thing lended a little more credibility to respawning taking place. But not too much. Even there I found the endless supply of robbers, etc to kill and loot a little unbelievable. But, ya, respawning of loot especially, would ruin the whole feel of the devastated CW if you could keep going back for more stuff in places you've already cleared out.

There was an Eddie Murphy joke which if ya change it a bit applies rather well.. (his was about ghosts but anyway)

Typical Raider Boss says "Wow look at this place it has everything we need great sniper positions, sturdy wall, enough beds and lockers for us all, there even running water its perfect."

Then he notices the heaped stinky pile of bullet ridden raiders that were staying here before...

Typical Raider Boss says "Too bad we can't stay."

there's only a few spots that respawn inside, bethesda ruins, the metros going to takoma industrial and off the top of my head that all i can't think of any others, but at least there are lots of good indoor dungeons...LOB enterprises is fun, so is the roosovelt academy and the chryslus building, also the capitol building and statesman hotel is cool, what you can do is make asave before you clear it,then just reload the save when you get done, some of those areas are fun to lay mines and hide in the nooks and crannies and sneaking around killing supermutants.

This kind of surprised me, as reading about a certain building on the vault wikia it would often say "Can be used as a player home..." as it doesn't respawn, such as the Super Duper Mart and Ant Agoniser's lair. Springvale school does respawn, doesn't it? Out side locations do. What about buildings downtown, surely with all those Muties everywhere the interiors must repawn?

Because, at least in the case of the metros, you're running through them all the time, and constantly getting jumped by ghouls gets a little old.

You can get MMM to make interiors respawn if you want to, though.

I think it would ruin the whole "survivalism" aspect of the game. Plus, the original game (before the DLCs) had a level cap; you'd reach the cap very quickly if you could keep getting XP from areas you'd already cleared.
