Why did Oblivion have MORE Creatures, Towns, and Quests?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 8:20 am

Discounting radiant AI because those quests are boring and linear,

Oblivion had more quests, creatures, and towns with a purpose than Skyrim.

The cities were bigger and seemingly more populated and there were more shops.

Why the drop off in quality?

My only gripe with Skyrim, and one that will probably have me bored in a few months.

Dumb point is dumb. It doesn't matter if you don't like the quests, they exist. It's like me trying to say there is only one Zelda game because I only liked one Zelda game.

Mmm I disagree with the quests thing. There are tons of non-Radiant random miscellaneous quests in the world, the thing is you stumble into them, you're not assigned them all the time. You have to do some more exploring on your own to find some of the cool stuff, it won't all be handed to you by a quest giver in town.

All the quests I've done so far mop the floor with Oblivion's boring quests...

Quality. The cities, the shops, the people, the world, are all much more interesting than they were in Oblivion.

Also, is it really confirmed that there are less quests? I swear, ever other gorram NPC I talk to has a quest for me.

Skyrim has about 50 more quests than Oblivion. So you aren't looking hard enough.

Bored in a whole few months? Wow. Those a-holes. How could they build a game that would only keep you interested for a few months? Some games are so short I don't get a chance to get bored. Know what bored me in Oblivon? Gates. Don't get me wrong. I liked Oblivion but I'm enjoying Skyrim more. More character.

Because not as many people like the cold climate.

I love cold weather but every time I voice this to people in my office, someone voices that I'm weird. Ok maybe not every time but most times.

And yeah, I know I'm weird but it's not because I like cold weather.

Okay you are right but Dawnstar is not 8 buildings, its rather large at least as large as Chorrol. And the cities are all way more intersting. How can you say Dawnstar is less intersting than say another walled off town. It's alot better.

Really?... Dawnstar is about the size of the Waterfront...

Dawnstar is smaller than all of the cities in Oblivion.

But, cities like Markarth, Whiterun, Solitude, Windhelm and Riften are all more interesting than the cities in Oblivion, even if they are smaller. Winterhold, Morthal and Dawnstar are more like towns.

Quantity =/= Quality. There is definitely much more detail to the creatures themselves, the towns, and the quests in Skyrim than there is in Oblivion

I like to think they were focusing on combat and the new leveling system, but it could just be money

Why did Oblivion have MORE Creatures, Towns, and Quests?

Here let me fix that for you

Why does Skyrim have MORE annoying critics, pointless arguments on forums about how terrible a game is after playing it for hours and hours, (oh what a pain it must have been to play.)?

Seriously, if you don't like it why are you wasting time [censored]ing here, instead of playing Oblivion or another better game in your opinion?

Morrowind rocked, Oblivion was meh, and Skyrim is literally one of the best games ever to be created. It feels way more natural interacting with a living, breathing world, than any other game I have ever played. If you don't like it, trade it in, sell it used, and take your money back to the plains of Oblivion where you should be forever cursed to walk the land as a lonely scamp.

Obviously those who don't love every detail of the game don't deserve to be playing it. After all, the developers are doing usa favor by releasing it.

...Is about how i figured those people's thinking to go.

On topic, in Oblivion the core parts svcked, while the details were pretty good. In Skyrim the core parts are pretty good but the details svck. So, they both svck in their own special ways :P
