Why did the dwemers dissapear?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:53 pm

Why did the dwemers dissapear? A lot of people including the scuttlehead Trebonius have thought about that. And appearently nobody knows, but some have speculated about the reason.

Since I'm making a mod called the dwemer history society, which is dedicated to exploring the dwemer history, they might be interested in what happened to the dwemers.
But what do you think happened, why did they dissapear? Theories are allowed, also the more colorful ones (within reason).

The Dwemer may all have taken power from the creations of Kagrenac, and when they were destroyed the Dwemer disappeared. Of course, this may not have affected Dwemer in all of Tamriel, as in Oblivion we hear that the Deep Ones in a quest involving the village of Hackdirt may be the Dwemer...although they apparently write in Daedric text.

Dude, don't read in to the hackdirt quest. Its a reference to lovecraft's works, and its got nothing to do with the dwemer.

Lady Nerevarine answered correctly, but if you want an idea of 'how', look http://www.imperial-library.info/fsg/tsbasiliskarticle2.shtml. My ego is humbled, for now.

I just read Lady Nevarines link. I can see, that it's based on all the ingame references, but I have to read it a few more times to understand everything here.

Cool :foodndrink:

Its important to note that they are not steampunk atheists. Their goal was not to ravage the country side as a giant, but use Numidium and propel themselves to a higher sudgradient. Jumping from the top of a higher subgradient (Numidium) would result in reaching a greater subgradient above it.

This is important, because Akatosh was nothing to venerate, and the fact that he and the other gods could govern the Dwemer was absurd in their view. If they could overcome Akatosh and destruction by moving on up past his influence, past his subgradient, then they wouldn't be bothered by the bastard anymore. They would be their ancestors' ancestor in a sense.
