Why did the Nerevarine have to destroy the Tribunal?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 2:18 pm

Which is why the Tribunal lasted for so long until the prophecy finally came to life.
But that prophecy was hardly Aedric in origin, and any ol' schmuck could of fulfilled the requirements needed to become Nerevar as long as they were competent enough not to immediately get killed out in the wilderness. The Aedra really had little to do with the Tribunals ultimate fall.

Any ol' schmuck could unite the Great Houses and Ashlanders under a single banner to wage war against an army of mutants lead by an insane god and his seven immortal brothers?

Dude, turn the difficulty up a little bit next time you play Morrowind.

Yes, any ol' schmuck could of fulfilled the prophecy to become Nerevarrine. There were many attempts to mantle him, but only one managed to get it right, and that resulted in the hero (destroyer) of Morrowind.

So only one person could have done it, then.

As long as they don't die, then yes. Ultimately its the story we get to play, but we aren't that special in the sense that the events we participated in were predetermined or we were singled out from birth. We just managed to not [censored] it up.

Yes, prophecy is just that.

But the one who fulfills the prophecy is special, and is set apart from the others.

"Born under a certain sign"?

Are we playing the same games?

The prophecy was very vague, and the entire spiel about the elder scrolls and what Zurin Arctus said in the beginning is a meta joke. After all, depending on who views the scroll (game), there is an event (MQ) fulfilled by a hero (the player character), though the events that transpire are not the same (what the player does during the game).

"Every event is preceded by prophesy. But without the Hero, there is no event."

It was a foregone conclusion that a hero would rise up, united the great houses and ashlanders, and cast down the false gods. But the doer of the deed was left to chance, essentially.

On the other hand, since the dissolution of the Tribunal, not a lot of good has happened to the Dunmer, particularly after Vivec went missing. (We await your triumphant return, lord and Lord),

Also, I don't mean to threadjack, but can someone please validate my crazy theory that Sotha Sil uploaded himself into the Clockwork City before Almalexia went to kill him, and that he could also still be alive?

I also have this theory that Sotha Sil might still be alive and i hope he comes back in a future expansion or elder scroll game where he commands a huge robotic army.

"Are we playing the same game?" was, in that case, a meta-meta-joke. Of course we're playing the same game, but also not. But that doesn't make my Nerevarine(s) any less the only one(s) who could've possibly fulfilled the prophecy.

I want to hug Sotha Sil. He must be so lonely. Dude doesn't even appear to have any fabricant friends around which aren't mindless.

I'd rather have Sotha Sil be a ghost.

I don't know. I like Sotha Sil, but I think it was good that he died. He doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would want to come back.

I think he might come back eventually, he probably has a grudge against azura and the nerevarine for destroying the heart and making almalexia go mad. When he does, the whole world shall face his cold lifeless mechanical army's wrath, no flesh shall be spared, the world will become mechanicalized, not even azura is safe from his wrath.

I never perceived Sotha Sil as the sort of person to hold a grudge, much less against someone who effectively freed him from his eternal duty, of which he was already getting tired.

I haven't played Morrowind, but I've read a lot about the story and the lore. And there's just one thing I don't understand. It seems like the Dunmer are better off with the leadership of people like Vivec and Almalexia. Why doesn't the Nerevarine destroy Dagoth Ur and help restore the Tribunal to its former glory?
Well Azura is vindictive bi@$#$...... So there's that. She doesn't care that the Dunmer are better off under the Tribunal. She just want's to get back at them for crossing her. End of story.

"restore the Tribunal to its former glory" You need the heart to do that. And it's been freed from the enchanments holding it in place so there's no restoring them.

Oh and I'd say he didn't destroy the Tribunal. If anyone did it was Almalexia. Nerevarine only killed her in self defense.

Sotha ghost for Skyim DLC. He'd actually help me, unlike Odahviing.

Then perhaps my game is bugged. I call him to fight dragons and sabre cats, and he does next to no damage to them.
