Why did you pre-order Fallout 4?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 1:21 am

I pre-ordered mine (yesterday), because:

1) I'd be getting it day 1 regardless

2) I want a physical copy

3) My local shop doesn't stock PC games standard, so I wanted to make sure they had a copy for me

I waited until now, because I wanted to make sure I had the system for it.

And I've played five Beth and/or Beth-engine games (MW, OB, SK, FO3, FO:NV), and they were all good and all ran for me when I got them. So I trust that I'll get a good game.

I haven't yet.

To be honest the physical copy does nothing for me as I couldn't care less about the perk poster. Now a Boston area map I would have been all over, but the perks are just something I'll look at when leveling up and everything I need to know is right there on the pipboy. So with no interest in the physical copy I'll just get it from STEAM. But with STEAM there is no waiting, I just buy and download.

I have no plans on playing on release night and I imagine I'll be going to work that day so if anything I'll buy it that morning, let it download while I'm at work, and then play when I get home. Though due to all the changes in the game I can considering just waiting to see some Let's Play vids and player reviews. May even wait for the first patch and get some more in-depth reviews. There's just so much changed that I'm not 100% sold on the game yet. It wouldn't be the first franchise I had to leave due to changes I didn't like (Like DA).

Because since I started playing. Daggerfall Bethesda has not let me down once. They have always made a good quality and outstanding product. I always pre order games from them. Same with the GTA games from Rockstar.

Because I've wanted Fallout 4 since I played Fallout 3. I want to play it as soon as humanly possible, which means pre-loaded in Steam and ready to be unlocked at 12:01am on Nov. 10th.

I'll wait for release to read reviews and check out some game-play videos if I'm not certain about a game. Fallout 4 does not fall into that category.

I preordered on PSN because it will unlock for me at 10pm on the 9th so I'll be able to go hard on the 9th and considering I work nightshifts all te time staying up all night to play it will be easy.

The day I played FO3 my gaming life changed and all other games fell short in comparison. This was even further magnified upon playing FNV and then Skyrim cemented that the only real games I will ever get into and play would be this genre and to be more specific, BGS games. Sure I occasionally play another game here or there but it's like visiting a park for an hour compared with going on a summer long safari.

The immersion of role playing in these games plus exploration and character customization is where it's at for me specifically. Yes BGS has it's flaws but it's a far cry from EA and they've earned my business with their hard work and ingenuity. I've got 3 copies of FO4 (original steam PC, Pipboy PC, and Xbox One).

Pre-ordered the Skyrim digital version so I could start playing when it unlocked on Steam. Will probably do the same for FO4. Never cared much for pre-order bonuses unless it was something like a silly TF2 hat.

Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, RAGE, Witcher 2 and Dragon Age 2 are the only titles I've pre-ordered, all for the same reason, as Steam usually allows you to download the game in advance and unlock ~9pm PST the night before launch.

Only one I sorta regretted was Witcher 2, because my PC was not able to handle the game (and it didn't even unlock until the following day). On the plus side, though, I got a sweet ponytail and sword for the Scout.

Because I know I'll get many hours of entertainment for the price of the game compared to other games around the same price. Fallout 3, NV, Skyrim all gave me way more entertainment value than the full price I paid for them.

I pre ordered because it is going to be a Bethesda game.
Smash hit after smash hit, does anyone really think they're going to drop the ball on what might be their biggest launch to date? But really? I can be cynical at times, but the "What if it's teh suxxors?" Line of thinking is beyond cynical.

I normally don't pre-order games, but based on my enjoyment of FO3 and FO:NV, I'm hopeful FO4 will be similarly enjoyable - basically it's a vote of confidence. Plus I'll be able to have it ready to go the second they unlock it :)

It was right after they had the announcement at E3 I figured the pipboy edition would sell out if I waited until the next day to order

I pre ordered because sometimes the stores near me are completely out of stock if the game is popular. I couldn't allow that to happen on a game like Fallout 4... that I've been waiting 7 yrs for! Would be heart breaking.

Because its Fallout thats why. It doesn't get any bigger and better than this for me in gaming. I've been waiting on this game for years. I loved Fallout 3 and New Vegas and played them both to death if I didn't pre order Fallout 4 I wouldn't pre order any other game.

Because I'm going to be getting it at launch regardless and I'm fairly confident in the developer behind the game that has offered me years of entertainment through their games.

It's the latest release of what is my personal favourite thing ever. Having Fallout 4 on Steam means that ill be able to pre-load it when the time comes, and unlock it right in the morning.

Also it feels that much closer when I have it grayed out on my Steam account.

Why pre-order?

I didn't get it for the free stuff. I didn't get it because Steam offered it. Fact is, I wouldn't miss a Fallout game, period.

And pre-order means I can re-play all the other Fallouts before the new one comes out.

I have loved the Fallout universe ever since my first Fallout Demo game-play of the original Fallout 1 game and shooting some gang member and watching him get torn to pieces with my SMG burst fire on him.

I Own the more common Fallout games all the mainstream ones for pc at least, and I have never been worried about Bethesda games so I have always pre-ordered them.

This time around I wanted the Pipboy edition as well so had to keep an eye out for the version to be added to Gamestop pre order list, and got the pre order for it and from the information I have gotten they will get some and I should get my Pipboy at least I hope so.

I always wanted a Pipboy, but I never liked preordering.

Guess I will stick with my mininuke (as soon as I buy it AND if I can find one).

Track record with the Fallout series and Skyrim. Best pleasure for the price going.

I will keep trusting Bethesda until they let me down. Has not happened yet.

I don't hold Elder Scrolls Online against them - different studio. And that one I did not buy.

Because either way I'm going to buy it. Good or bad. I don't see any point in pretending otherwise.

Even if all the reviews come in as "horrible" and everyone here on the forums tells me its awful, I won't believe it until I play it and decide for myself. Lets be realistic though: that's not going to happen.
