Why did you pre-order Fallout 4?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 6:45 am

I understand folks who pre-order the "Fallout 4 Pip-boy Edition" cause of the neat wearable pip-boy replica and other items. It also has collectable value.

  • But why pre-order standard disc or digital version?
  • Who knows if it's gonna be good or bad game before it's out?

I want to congratulate Todd Howard, Pete Hines and Bethesda team for the E3 2015 hype and getting the cash, months before the release of the game.

Getting a pip-boy aside I ordered a standard edition anyway because I liked everything we seen so far and the game already has good potential.

I know it's going to be good. I'm a huge fan of Bethesda games and the Fallout franchise itself.

I also ordered a standard edition because I know I'm going to buy the game at some stage anyway, so why not be able to play it at release? You also get a free perk poster.

Pre-order on steam and you can have the game loaded and ready when it unlocks on the 10th.

Pre-order a physical copy and you get the perk poster, plus depending on the retailer you may be able to pick it up at a midnight release.

First, I pre-ordered it because it gets me in and out faster at my Gamestop at the midnight release. Second, my Gamestop has a party atmosphere and having the pre-order get's me in on the swag they give out.

As to it's quality, I suppose if I had never played any other Bethesda game you would have a point. But since I have played them, and I enjoyed them, your point becomes highly improbable.

Also, since we're on the subject, the whole anti-hype argument is silly. What are developers supposed to say?

"Hi. We make serviceable games. You may like them, you may not. You can do things in them. Buy it"

First by carriage, now by boat. First I preordered the Pip-boy edition, then I preordered the Amazon edition that comes with a lore book. Who knows what's next? I would normally not preorder a standard edition, I prefer to buy day one from the store, I only preorder when I want the associated physical content.

Well, I bought a physical copy.. so pre-ordering (supposedly) means that they'll get enough copies and not run out. However, when you pre order a physical version you only have to put 5 bucks down.. so, no big deal there.

Pre-ordering a copy of your favorite series from your favorite studio doesn't necessarily have to be a rational move, even if you don't get any exclusive for pre-ordering, you may want to show support for your favorite studio. Pre-ordering means you trust them to deliver a good game. Since they like to boast such numbers it sure means something to them, in competition with other developers.

I pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk because none of my local retailers stock PC games any more. Steam has killed off that area of their market, but I still prefer having a hard copy if only for seeing the case on my bookshelf. I've played the crap out of every single Bethesda Game Studios game since Morrowind and loved them, despite their flaws, so I'm confident that they will deliver again. The only way for me to have a hard-copy and play on release is to pre-order on a website and have it delivered to my house on release day.

Besides, a pre-order on Amazon doesn't get charged until it's shipped anyway, so Bethesda doesn't have any of my money yet.

PS: I didn't realise it, but I'm actually getting the game £4 cheaper by buying from Amazon instead of Steam too.

I pre-ordered because of a few reasons.

1: I liked what I saw after the leaked footage came out, but was probably going to anyway.

2: Same as the guy above about Gamestop, they tend to give out a few more goodies at their midnight releases.

3: To pay it off over time, similar to layaway (except without the bump in price).

4: I trust the company to not play Pre-order games with content.

5: It's one of my 3 favorite game series (since 3), along with GTA and Rock Band (though this one is currently a bit disappointing).

I have pre-ordered from Amazon too, it also includes the added bonus of the price guarantee and it should arrive on release day.

I have pre-ordered all fallout games - starting with fallout 1, I was hooked from fallout 1 and have never been disappointed by a fallout game (except maybe the PS2 game "Brotherhood of Steel" that should never be mentioned and was more hack and slash than RPG). I discovered Elder scrolls late, but I will be pre-ordering any future non-MMO versions.

Why Pre-order?

  • Well not to say that I'm a fanatic about Fallout games, but I did have concerns about a possible collapse of western civilization when they stopped making DLC for New Vegas.
  • I like games more than I do people so doing the pre-order means I get a guarantee I can get a copy on release start staying in my man cave with the game and away from people again.
  • I was going to have to upgrade to Xbox One anyway to play the game and the bundle was good deal on that so pre-order just turned into a win-win for me.

Normally i don't.

But i found a place to get Fallout 4 much cheaper than Steam, and to be sure it arrives on launch i preordered. So basicly i did it for that juicy 33% discount.

Pre-ordered physical copy by mail as my city doesn't have a game store and the supermarkets rarely stock games on launch day. I also don't have a car and november is pretty damn cold for a motorcycle which I do have. So it's either by mail for extra 2.5€ postage or 10€ two-way bus ticket or 5-10€ for two-way train ticket to the nearest game store 30km away.

I always buy physical copy unless the game's on Steam/HumbleBundle sale. And I trust the game's worth pre-ordering. Plus the pre-order includes a raffle ticket for pip-boy edition!

Why do people belive in god?

Why do people buy lottery tickets?

Why do people pay for holiday trips in advance?

For me, it's convinience since I bought it through Steam.

So far I have about $300 "bound" in not yet released games.

Why?

1. I played Fallout 3 & Fallout New Vegas

2. It's game play, designing your own house is awesome, it has better enemies to fight

3.Developer confirmed games does not end.

4.Fallout 4 is going to be great in alot of ways, i see alot of people with negative energy on a game, that is worth buying.

5. Bethesda makes their own games and how they want it to turn out, if you idea great they might put it in the game

6. It's only 21 days away :fallout: :bunny: :fallout:

There was a deal on the price and I took it, if I see it cheaper beforehand I'll cancel and order it there instead.

First of all, I am a Fallout fan of the first hour. Basically since 99 when I got my hands on a Fallout 1 copy. This means I would likely buy anything directly on release.

Then it is Bethesda that made the franchise turn into a post-apocalyptic version of Morrowind and Oblivion, which I was fine with. It basically merged two beloved franchises into one, which I applaud. They also showed that they can pull this stuff off since 2002, this build up enough trust to pre-order Fallout 4 and the Season Pass.

Plus pre-ordering makes sure I can lay my hands on the game exactly at release. This is important for me in this game.

I can fully understand anyone who does not want to pre-order and waits for reviews, sales etc. though. This is a very sensible and smart way to handle this.

I was always going to buy it based on FO3 and the improvement they make to each game.

Having said that if you pre order a game from Game in UK and you decide not to bother, you can move that £5 or £10 towards another pre order or purchase. So you only really lose if you stop buying games all together.

Why preorder?
I preordered a digital copy on the Xbox one and I was gifted a copy on steam, as well as the season pass.
It wasn't for the extras. I don't usually buy the collector edition of games. To date I've only purchased 2 in my 25 years of gaming, and those were both Bethesda games (Oblivion and Fallout 3).
I like Bethesda games and wanted to support the studio. A show of good faith if you will.
Most of all I wanted to be able to play as soon as the game is released.

Because pipboy, if it wasn't the limited edition I would have purchased day one from a retail store. I'm old fashion, I like to go at the store and grab the thing with my hands lol :D
