Why does Bethesda hate Fallout 3 and it's console-using fans

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 9:58 pm

I can't believe I was just called a Pesisist because I know that Bethesda doesn't back track to old games!

Halo is not Fallout, Bethesda's mindset is to move forward in every way shape and form (they refuse to make a game in the past or use old features).

I am sorry but you have to let go of this idea of Fallout 3 getting more content, they have announced that it was done over a year ago.

And in your last post what do you mean about the whole series dying? (Forgot to add that in my last post)

A couple people sent some messages saying that Fallout 3. I said pessimist by the way not whatever you wrote that wasn't even a word

Wait, saying what about Fallout 3?

And it was a spelling mistake, I am pretty sure you spelled it wrong too...

No, I wasn't trying to mock you your spelling, I was just saying, I svck at spelling, any way I kept getting messages saying that Fallout 3 was dead and to get over it, and with what I said about halo is that everyone thought it was done but look at what happened, but considering that if bethesda decided to have an anniversary edition it would be like 2018, listen every thing I have written has been a theoretical statement. I am surprised everyone has taken this so literally, this is the first topic I have made, I started my account 2 days ago, I guess I did something wrong?

I live in Alturas, CA and if you played Fallout 2 it's in there they call it Modoc. It's an isolated town where you either have to drive to Klamath Falls Wallmart.( Yes I know second game reference, but this is where I actually live.) or you can just buy things on Amazon. Buying games new on amazon is probably the cheapest way to go as long as you don't go too cheap, because I think the cheap guys are shady. So yeah Fallout 3: Game of Year.(All DLC I checked.) 20$ and Fallout: New Vegas: 20$ and you can find them for $15 at the cheapest I've seen. Although I would like a special edition of New Vegas where they already of all their DLC on the disc lol. Though 10$ for each DLC mission is worth it. :tops:

Welcome to the forums SHADOW TH13F!

Enjoy our heated disscussions over Falout! :fallout:

On topic, sorry, Fallout 3 is done for and Bethesda is never going back to it. If they did, many Fallout fans would raze their local Beth studio to the ground (literaly). As you will find out, speaking of reviving dead games is taboo 'round here. All the things you mentioned (iron sights etc.) arn't available in vanilla (unmodded) Fallout 3 for PC, those were made by normal fans. Modding will NEVER be (legally) possible on conseles due to Microsoft's, and to a lesser extent Sony's. drive to control everything and maximize profits. :banghead:

The cheapest thing you can do is just buy Fallout: New Vegas or the FONV GOTY Edition. Depending on where you live you can get it cheap (where I live in America it's $14.99 USD), and the holiday Steam sales which are coming up soon will include FONV, as much as 75% off the normal price.

And remeber New Vegas is not a very CPU intensive game, your current compter may be able to handle it. I use HP Pavilion g6 laptop that I picked up back in March for $250 and it runs New Vegas and most other games like a charm.

I still don't see why everybody is freaking out over this theoretical possibility, considering Bethesda is going to have a new gaming engine for Fallout 4, why couldn't gamebryo go back and add some of the new content. It is not like it will halt Fallout 4 then, now will it?

I say just let them put it into F4 instead of F3 and not wait longer for F4 to come out.

I don't care anymore, is there any way to delete my account? I'm just done with this website, if you all think that Fallout 3 is dead, then the whole series must be dead. just remember what Ulysses said about cutting the throat of the bear...

PM GStaff if you want.
Ulysses has nothing to do with Fallout 3 since he is New Vegas.
And I have no idea what he said because he dies <_<

I still don't see why everybody is freaking out over this theoretical possibility, considering Bethesda is going to have a new gaming engine for Fallout 4, why couldn't gamebryo go back and add some of the new content. It is not like it will halt Fallout 4 then, now will it?

But the theory was shot down with such a strong fact that it can never be possible.
Any dev/tester/whatever taken from Fallout4 to go back to Fallout3 will surely slow it down by days/weeks.
But Gamebyro already has the stuff you want! New vegas is your answer and your shrugging it off for a previous title.

Yeah, but Bungie isn't still updating Halo 2, or 3. Why? Those games are old. They aren't being bothering trying anymore, as more people are buying Reach, so they are updating that one. You haven't done anything wrong, it's just that... well... FO3 is three years old, and Bethesda has made a game and published several more since then. They don't see reason to spend time updating an 'old' game that isn't played by a fraction of the people that play Skyrim, or even New Vegas. I guess it would be like looking back at your first-grade test scores and deciding that they svcked, so you re-did them. Also, PC gamers, while we have access to all the great mods like Alton IL and Iron sights, with them we get a whole host of problems, incompatibilities, and the not-so-good mods and stealing mods. We also get the nvde and six mods, which Msoft would NEVER let happen. It doesn't hate the console users, in fact, they may even love them more than the PC users, as we get a whole list of bugs and DRM. Also Skyrim's been out for two weeks and the Construction Set isn't released yet, in fact, there wasn't even a date announced.
Also, the poll is extremely biased.

What you do not realize is that they could just take the mechanics, and engines, and animations from their other games and implement them within this game within a few hour time period, just by using around 5 programmers, while still having an able army of them. That would not halt Fallout 4's production.

Tell that to John Romero re: upgrading Daikatana to use Quake 2's engine.

Sounds simple, but it is not.

Yes, you have to PAY those guys. Pay the testers. Pay for marketing and advertisemant. Ship the game, get it sold when everyone already has a copy of Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

OR!

You could just wait for Fallout 4 and stop being a troll about it. Bethesda doesn't hate Console users. If anything, it coddles them too much and makes their games over-friendly to the console market. Look at Morrowind's interface. Windows, nice icons, very functional for a PC. Now look at Skyrim on a PC. It's a joke of an interface that only works well in a console environment.

Your poll is rediculously biased. The moral of the story is not that you should buy a gaming machine and pay for the game again. The moral of the story, instead, is that if you expect a game that is 3 years old to be changed and updated to modern gaming standards, you should have bought the PC version in the first place and did it yourself. Gaming companies don't exist to make every game they have into an opus 10 years down the line. NO! They exist to make money, and constantly chipping away at an old video game that nobody is likely to buy anymore is not good business sense.

New Vegas is like 20 dollars now.

No, it's 12.

Getting New Vegas for $12 seems like a huge deal to me.

Well tbh i want them to bring fallout 4 aslong as they dont make the same mistake a third time.... NO endings please but a few updates to fallout 3 couldnt hurt either... i havent played in a year (mainly due to a lack of console after it blew up on me) and i had it on pc (the pc was donated to the charity Help for Heroes along with the GOTY of FO3) but at the end of the day everyone has a different opinion.. i couldnt care less if they added to FO3 or not coz FO3 is fine as it is

Hey, I got Fallout New Vegas, and it is okay, but Fallout 3 was way better, and I still think they should add the new content!! But go check out my new post, I think it is a much better topic, so here it is: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1302318-fallout-1-and-2-remakes/

It seems to me that there is no way Bethesda is every going to touch Fallout 3 again.

Or fix game breaking issues in Oblivion (eg abomb).

Those games are long done.

They treat both sides the same. It's just that the nature of the PC allows users to come up with nifty stuff which they can add into the game. Bethesda didn't give us PC users anything either - it's all from the wonderful modders. The modders will happily convert the mods for console use if the consoles will support them. Don't blame Bethesda, blame the console makers for not incorporating the features into their machines.

This is a smart guy^

It's not that consoles are being treated unfairly, it's just that mods are things made by the PC community on their PCs, the same thing can't be done on consoles. The effort of getting PC mods on to console just wouldn't be worth it from Bethesda's financial perspective, unless the mods were originally made with cross-compatibility in mind.

If you want the option of mods, buy a PC, it's that simple. You can plausibly make a decent gaming PC for around £600 now if you go AMD; it's expensive compared to buying a console, but in the long run the money you save on games makes the costs more or less equivalent.

no my friend you are the smart guy, that is a good idea...perhaps I will, and like I said stop using the god awful PS3 version. This computer would be great for gaming, but it simply does not have enough video space on it, do you have any ideas if at all possible to add video space on it?
