Why does Bethesda like 11s so much

Post » Tue Aug 30, 2011 12:39 am

OMG!
11x11x11=1331
1331-666=665

11 11 11 was picked in order to easily differentiate between the European time method and the American time method (month, day, year vs. day, month, year). And it is the closest of such convenient dates to the time in which Bethesda feels that they're capable of releasing the game. There's not much else to it. The whole "every 100 years" thing occurs only because we define our dates as such. Any other society with differing calendar systems would disagree about the day's importance.

OP what don't you get? The only date that contains only one number (11.11.11 or 22.22.22) only comes once every one hundred years. Now of course 22.22.22 or 33.33.33 isn't possible, but 11.11.11 sure is and anything that happens only once every a hundred years should be dam important in anyone's book. Plus, like the others said, it's Veterance Day, so people can play all day without having to worry about homework or work or girlfriends.

After 11.11.11, 12.12.12 will be the last of such "grand dates" in our lifetime.

You can ask yourself why humans are particulary interested in something artifical to begin with. It's not like 11.11.11 is universally a grand day, it could be 242-23563-12443 looking from an outwordly view-point.

What about Febtober 13, 2013?

How many games are related to their release date in any really significant way?

It's a good day. 11-11-11. You remembered it well enough to complain about it.

Because 11-11-11 transitions into the word Skyrim so majestically.

Well, I laughed until I was practically coughing up blood. Well played, sir.

On topic: It's easy to remember. That's probably all there is to it, it's near Christmas and it's almost insultingly easy to remember.

TES has always been super into numerology anyway. anyway whos read the 36 (37) sermons of vivec is sure to know how head-spinningly convoluted their sense of numbers is

1. It's a gimmick date that's easy to promote/remember.
2. It's supposedly around a timeframe where they are more sure they'll have the game at gold status without by chance missing the release date.

That's it.

Yep, thats probably it.
