Why does BOS hate ghouls?

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 12:27 am

I'm actually unsure how I will end my first playthrough so I tend to join every available faction, I can always choose to betray some of them later......until then, lots of extra missions and caps.

I've nothing against Maxson's BOS at this point, claims of bigotry make little sense to me at the moment since all of the people/androids/things they hate are at least so far the things that attack you on sight.......perhaps there is some big reveal coming when Maxson orders all the kittens and puppies to be killed but I have no reason not to back them in game yet and as my character was a JAG's Corps Lawyer pre war she is able to talk [censored] with the best of them and just tells Maxson what he wants to hear.

Plus due to the false reporting (water at zero etc) bug with Settlements not allowing fast travel from within a Recruitment Beacons area, I make a lot of use of the Vertibird to fly between settlements when they are attacked.

Wrong, Danse HATES it if you reverse Virgil's FEV instead of just killing him. He loves you twice for convincing someone to kill themselves.

They hate ghouls and mutants because they reflect the mistakes and misuse of technology. There is only one definition of human for them.

Using danse as an example doesn't work because his hatred for super mutants is very specific. I would think you of all people would realize why he gets mad about it, since he's your favorite companion.

His last true friend before you was turned into a super mutant by super mutants with the F.E.V. He couldn't save him by any means other than shooting him in the head.

So when you give Virgil, this institute doctor the cure, it's like

where was this when I (Danse) needed it most? Why does this institute trash deserve it when we could save it for a member of the Brotherhood?

I thought that was good storytelling on Bethesda's part.

Who told you Danse is my favorite companion? :o

I remember that, but if it's Danse, I would imagine he would want this doctor to research more on FEV, so that no one has to go through that again. I don't think he would want anyone to experience what he had experienced, so I don't see why he would approve of killing the researcher who come up with a cure instead of recruiting him for the BoS. I feel like it has more to do with what he has been indoctrinated by the BoS above all else.

Probably because the Researcher was party, unwilling or not, to making hundreds of Super Mutants from innocent Wastelanders.

Danse isn't a forgiving sort.

I find the BoS to be arrogant jerks, but then I think they are supposed to be that way. It'll be a pleasure to play along with their dogma long enough to tap them for all they are worth in caps and XP and then destroy their organization from within. I'll be very disappointed if destroying them is not an option. Matter of fact, I think the only "faction" that I'd like to leave standing are the Minute men, they at least have the humility to place the most competent being in the Wasteland in charge right from the get-go!

Respect your elders! Down on your knee Danser, down on your knee Maxwellhouse, swear fealty to your rightful Empress "Bleu du Cent et Onze!"

Found the slog, but had to fast travel back to dump junk. Will check it out later tonight if I can and let you know what I gather ;)

I wouldn't mind seeing that, for science.

You obviously haven't had the encouncter where a bunch of minutemen tell you to screw off since this isn't the military and they don't have to do anything you say. That turned me away from the MM since it revealed the big flaw: Nothing is stopping anyone from disobeying you.

That's confusing because I ordered them to stand down and they obeyed.

What's going on here?

That's because you persuaded them with a charisma check.. Normally, a leader shouldn't have to persuade or be charismatic to order troops to stand down. What are you going to do the next time your troops don't follow your orders and you can't persuade them?

Eh, I give the Minutemen a bit of a pass since you were elected by a single vote.

That doesn't really give me any confidence at supporting them over the BOS.

Yes really. Their brain gradually turns to mush and their "lizard brain" is all that's left. There's even a loading screen explaining this.

I forgot about that questioning about sleeping with "undesirables". I don't think it was medically motivated and may speak to the BOS desire for racial purity, not wanting members to debase their genetics.

That and Ad Victorium, "To Victory" sounds suspiciously like Sieg Hail "Hail Victory."

The Nazi parallels are there and deliberate.

Just like with the Enclave.

Your strawmanning is starting to fall apart. Now I hope that the BOS ending winds up being canon just to watch the haters implode.

I like how the Brotherhood is taking on the Enclave's Nazi comparisons now.

It tickles me.

I think they're explicitly meant to be Warhammer 40K space marines now.

And they're based on Catholicism and Nazism's worst traits justified by being faced with Oblivion.

But sure, why not.

To me they are a little like Cerberus in Mass Effect 3, a movement that promoted humankind over other species and was also into tech.
