Why does Crysis 2 keep crashing?

Post » Fri Jul 01, 2011 9:09 pm

I was playing the campaign without issues; however, once I made it to the scene where the city is destroyed, it's raining outside, and you see the first bigger group of Ceph (when you first see the rainy area that the multiplayer map was based off of), it always crashes. I can play for a few minutes, and then it crashes to my desktop.

It even crashed my display drivers; I had to remove my SLI ribbon manually, and reinstall them. That was extremely annoying.

I've tried reinstalling the game, and that apparently did not help.
How can I fix this?

(Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ newest official NVIDIA drivers.)

I tried playing it with SLI disabled, and it still crashed after a few minutes.
Any fixes, anyone? I was just starting to have fun, lol.

Do you have an overclock running on either cards, and what are your temps

I am not overclocking either of my graphics cards. At idle they are 40-46 C, and when gaming, 50-65 C, which is completely normal.

I played Metro 2033, which is even more demanding (in my opinion from experience), for a solid 10 minutes, and it was completely fine, which lets me know that the issue is Crysis, and not my hardware.

I lasted 10 minutes in Metro 2033, and exited.
I last less than 10 minutes in Crysis 2, and it crashes.
The problem is Crysis 2.

Also, my CPU is an i7 960 clocked at 3.86GHz, which was never given me issues.
