Why does everyone think Talos is a "good" god?

Post » Thu Jul 19, 2012 9:20 am

Yes I know he is keeping Mundas together, but this guy is a god of war for a reason, as Tiber Septim this guy was a complete Jerk, he made a young dumner have a abortion because he was afraid of having "Bastards" , play Redguard..., he was blood thirsty, Skyrim implies the Atcturian History was real, I mean come on...
Edit: As everyone, I mean a large majority of characters in-game and members of the forum.

Dibella is a [nastywordforprostitue], Kyne is a berserker, HoonDing crushes everything in his path, and Boethiah is a backstabber.

Talos is pretty nice all things considered. But no one will argue that he is a jerk. A big jerk (damn Bretons!)

I see Talos as more of a force (like HoonDing; actually, I view Talos/Ysmir as an aspect of HoonDing, due to their similar roles in their respective pantheons) that happens to hold the universe together.

Of course, what are you asking is "good"? Tiber/Hjalti? His actions? His godhood? His divine purpose in the metaphysics?

Why are you including Boethiah in the list? She's a Daedra. She's guaranteed to be an ass.

Also "everyone" is a very broad term. I don't think Talos is nice. In fact I dislike him a lot. The Thalmor can ban Talos worship all they want, I honestly don't care.

His overall...charcter, people in the games and on these fourms constantly say Talos is perfect and what not, but in truth before he became Talos he was very violent man. I just wish people would see Talos as a god of war, rather then compare him to a "good" god, i am saying he should be viewed at best as neutral.

Talos the god is great for helping us not be crushed by the oppression of our existences.

Is anyone in TES really all that nice? Tiber is a powerful man, and he'd be a fool not to strut is stuff. You don't become emperor of Tamriel and kick the Dominion in the crotch with a giant robot by being a jolly soul. Talos is a good thing because hes proof that the idea of the Mundus isn't a horrible place where decay runs rampant, that its possible to become more then what you once were.

Thats not what im trying to say, I do think Talos's actions were necicary overall, Im just saying he should be remembered as a god of war rather then a "good guy" as he is currently.

Mara, and Stendarr are nice.dead.
Mara, I'll give.

Stendarr varies from pantheon to pantheon. Stuhn is the god of ransom and kidnapping. See also, the Vigil.

Mara, and Stendarr are nice.
Stuhn (Stendarrs Nordic variant) taught the Nords the benefits of taking prisoners of war, and Mara...well there's probably a odd form of Mara out there, just with a different name it appears. (Not that varieties shows this, oddly enough.)

The only real connection to the HoonDing and Talos is that they both rely/relied on the enantiomorph.
