Why does no one comment on my Daedric armor?

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 5:33 am

You would think there would be a good list of 10 things you could think of to say to someone wearing a full set of Daedric. Like this,

In my best Arnold voice: "What's that? Daedric Armor? What are you doing, communing with the Daedra? Get out of here".

Or random old lady as you pass: "Ahh! Begone, Daedra worshipper!!"

Or a small child: "My mommy tells me only people who worship Daedra where Daedric armor..."

Or another Arnold: "Where'd you get that Daedric armor? Working for the Daedra?"

Something, anything would have worked. Daedric after all is quite rare (as it should be). I was just disappointed that no one commented on it. Was it just my game, or is there really no comments in the game for Daedric armor? Oh well. I hope they address this for the next TES game.

And by the way, yes I know this is a very minor nitpick. I absolutely love Skyrim and think it's great. But this is one small case where I expected a bit more.

You would think at least one of the Deadra hunter faction would comment.

But I don't really mind it since you can craft the armor.. same as you can craft dwarf which is supposedly unmatched by any smith well at least until dragonborn came around

ya children should run from you, people should gasp and hurry to get out of your way. Guards should put their hands uneasily on their swords.

Exactly. Children and women should especially be scared. I think there should have been a script just for children and women regarding Daedric armor. And guards should be suspicious of people wearing Daedric. I'm also certain this won't go unnoticed for the next TES game though. It seems like they just didn't have any resources and/or time left to add this.

I would laugh and tell him to get his Sauron outfits from a better store.

Yep. Maybe even some shopkeepers wouldn't deal with you too. That might be going too far for some, but the bottom line is there should be some sort of consequence to wearing presumably evil armor.

Like I said, I'd be shocked if we didn't see some of this behavior in TES VI. I was just really hoping it would have made it into Skyrim too.

Daedric armour isnt evil.
It is rare, expensive and impressive and it is odd that no-one comments on it.

Then people would just take the armor off when dealing with NPCs, then put it back on after. It would just be more annoying then immersive or whatever.

I don’t think so, I remember in game lore stating the metal of the armor had unmatched properties but the smiting of it was not all that spectacular. I also recall reading that Dwarves tried to use machines for warfare as much as possible so their armor/weapons were not as good as they could have been. The most important aspect of the dwarven design was to make everything last an eternity.

You would think they would mentiion it, as you often get noticed if you are wearing leather or steel armour.

Excatly. It's the rarest piece of armor in Tamriel.Powerfull people weared it.Also i think bethseda didn't had time to include to much dialogue options and diversty like in Dragon age.As they said, they sacrificed Lore for gameplay.

Since you mentioned dialogue diversity... I find it odd when I hear a male and female voice deliver the exact same line. I first noticed it when a passing female guard said one of the same things a male guard said. I couldn't help but wonder why they didn't change the phrasing a little to make it seem different.

I think Vigilants of Stendarr should be hostile to you if they see you wearing daedric armor.

Oh Sheogorath, yes! Please, please please, someone make a mod that does this (well, that and adds more dialogue for armors)!

I agree particularly regarding the vigilants of Stendarr, in fact it would make sense for them to start sending hit squads after you. I remember in Fallout 3 the random squads that came after you due to your faction. Also it would make sense for everyday people to Daedric,Dwarven and glass, even in fact elvish, particularly given the Nords attitude towards elves.

I seem to remember that when you're holding a daedric weapon, people do comment. But i agree that the vigilants of stendarr should have another reaction to the armor :D
Right now those vigilants are fodder for money, seeing as novice robes and hood are quite valuable :D and light.

Precisely!

I'd hate having my face handed to me in every town over it.

Well... You kinda wouldn't... Because if you had Daedric armor and weaponry you could just wipe the floor with everyone (except the children, they'd kill you with their constant punching and refusals to DIE).

While both had hit squads, it was F:NV that had factions send hit squads after you. FO3 was the one that sent hit squads depending on your karma

OT: It was a bit disappointing/time consuming since I spent like 20 mintues talking with guards in order to see if there was comment on the Daedric armor.

They should comment where you got it, or how you got it. They should inqure if you killed a daedra to craft it, they should say something about an epic piece of gear.
You would think they would mentiion it, as you often get noticed if you are wearing leather or steel armour.
It would make sense they acknowledge one of the rarest armors in the game.

I agree with this its forged from creatures that dwell within Oblivion or its worn by creatures that live in Oblivion and it would take somebody with skill to acquire such an armor. I do not think they even comment on Daedric artifacts.

Well I was thinking of the two perks where you got a contact that rewarded you with caps for the trophies you got from npcs. Your right though I have them jumbled in my head. Still the point is they would most likely hunt you down for displaying Daedric affiliation. I was disapointed when I found there main guild house and could only get healing in restoriation. I think that would be a cool faction to join.

Making voices for Armors should be done by bethesda, because that would cause the same thing as in Oblivion. That people suddenly speak in an different accent.
At least they comment on my Steel armor :D "Wow what an wonderful armor forged out of traditional steel"

as far as i know its been 200 somethin odd years since the oblivion gates were closed forever, cant blame the people if they've never seen daedric armor before, let alone an actuall daedra. So all they see is someone in black plate mail
