Why does Piper just Leave Nat in Diamond City?

Post » Sat Mar 19, 2016 8:04 pm

Why can't I send my companions back to where I originally found them? Why do I have to send them to one of my settlements?

Example: Piper has a sister in Diamond City that she just completely forgets about. "Oh sorry sis, you can run the paper now, I'm gonna go with Blue and have wasteland adventures, and then when he finds a new companion I'm just going to stay at the castle forever, derp derp herp derp."

You can send them back to where you originally found them if you back out of the "Choose destination" screen when dismissing them.

So... yeah.

You can. When you dismiss Piper, you can just exit the "send to settlement" box and she (and every other companion as well) will return to DC.

This really bothers me a lot. I didn't know about the exit out of the screen before dismissing Piper back when I first dismissed her, so now it's literally impossible to get her to go back to Diamond City with her little sister. I also can't get Piper's little sister to come live wherever I dismiss Piper to either. Plus, Piper had every intention of continuing the paper during her conversations, so it really bugs me that she can't ever go back there or help take care of her sister. Her sister is only a little girl now living there alone.

You know Before you get to upset OP maybe you should ask Nat about it.... Or like NIck would do lets put together the clues??

She is not welcome in diamond city.... And Admits people seem to not want to get close to her...... Then we find she uhh has a serious addiction to snack foods..... Whats worse 200 year old deviled eggs seems to top that list (investigate yourself).

I submit she may have serious bouts of gastro intestinal explosions, that make nukes seem like childs play.....Were talking Strip the paint off yer power armor smells, not Salisbury steak night... And sounds that put death claw roars to shame

:ahhh:

I suppose if you're on PC you could spawn her into Sanctuary, so that might be what happened. If I was playing on PC, I'd probably do the same thing!

I suspect that it might only be temporary. Nat, like most other NPC's, follows a daily schedule. Sell newspapers outside her home, sleep in her home, sell newspapers outside her home, sleep in her home, yadda, yadda, yadda. It would not surprise me at all when the time comes for her to changer her location in her routine, she will head to her bed in DC or head to her spot outside in DC (depending on where you snagged her from).

Unless you've already sent them to another settlement.

Then this won't work.

That only works if you never sent them anywhere before. You can take Piper with you and as long as you always dismiss her that way she'll go to DC. If you ever send her anywhere else you can't send her back to DC again.

Piper returned to DC in my game as part of the main story, so that's one way to get her to return if it hasn't happened yet.

Except I didn't. I just Fast Traveled to Sanctuary with Piper, and saw Nat running around...

She eventually ran out of Sanctuary, presumably on her way to Diamond City.

Piper do explain why she leaves DC during her affinity dialogues. Regarding Nat I think it is a bug. One time I entered DC via the stairs (alone) and Nat suddenly

started running. She ran out from DC and kept running until she encountered the super mutants near DC. She took cover and the muties were killed she returned to DC.

Except this isnt true, they go to the last settlement You've placed them. This only works when You first have them and never ever recruit them/or put them into a settlement. For example on my current playthrough I have never traveled with Nick so he actually stays at his detective agency instead.
