Why does Very high settings look better then extreme?

Hey Guys.... When i change my graphic settings to very high from extreme it look much better :S... can anybody help pls! :) my friends have the same issue :S



My Rig...

GPU: nVidia Geforce GTX 480


CPU: Core i7 920 @ 2.67 GHZ


Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R


RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1333MHz 3GB 3x 1Gb (CL9-9-9-24) for core i7


Case: Antec Nine Hundred


PSU: Silver Power 850 W


OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit


Crysis 2 from steam :)

I don't see anything special about the trees.
The bricks in Extreme are shaded darker which is better because the light is shining from behind

extreme trees are smoother than very high trees dude, it is as it is supposed to be.

Extreme clearly has ambient occlusion while very high doesn't seem to.

Fistan is right; its the effect of a higher anti-aliasing settings... which means no more jagged edges...
so thats what high quality trees look like
