Why don't the dogs have an attack mode?

Since the Vault entrance needs the most defence, I assigned the guards in the room a Dog each, in the hopes that it would fight with them when enemies broke in.

But when the enemies arrived, all the Dogs did was leave the room and not return until the enemies were gone.

And considering they were Deathclaws breaking in, the guards need all the help they can get!

I'm disappointed that the Dogs aren't combat pets, it just doesn't seem normal that they can't fight alongside the Vault Dweller they are assigned to.

That doesn't work in practice.

You can only have 1 Mr Handy per floor, so you can't have two of them in the same room.

Nor do they stay where they are assigned, they keep moving back and forth.

In my experience, the vault entrance is too limited, you can only have two guards in it at any one time.

Which is I why I assigned the dogs, to compensate for the problem.

Aloha Tilarta,

Mr. Handy was the key for me. Fire down bellow kind!

Plan A was quickly abandon along with B,C and D. Now still holding to plan F I was able to lv up 10 @ 50lv Dweller's (Dwells).

Yes the vault entrance is limited but not undefendable. Some of the 10 dwells have high SpEPcIAL stats and have been holding the door with zero fatalities. I've been taping Mr. Handy for the Bar-B-Q that is to die for!

My entry floor plan thus far: Door (no dwells), Elevator, 4 dwells Nuclear Reactor, 6 dwells Nuka Cola, Mr. Handy working the fire down bellow.

I had enough time to direct Mr. Handy to aid and abide the dwells above or I would let Mr. Handy walkabout the Entry RMs when I was tasking the lower levels, which are every bit equally important in the vault defenses IMOP. Just for [censored] and giggles if time allowed I would task some of the lower level dwells to the Door along with Mr. Handy to rally a universal room rush. Cha-Ching!

Note to: Todd Howard, If there were pet classes maybe I buy one or two but for now Mr. Handy hands down!

F that plan! :fallout:
