Fo3 Super Mutants had no gender it was said on a PC in vault 87 "I guess the military wanted to start off with a clean slate"

Female super mutants were mentioned in Fallout 1 while talking to the Master, so they have genders on the west coast. Especially since Marcus can "make use of the services" of the Cats Paw brothel. There were also female super mutants in Fallout: Tactics. Their problem is that they are sterile. They can try but can't fertilize.

Nope 1st gen super mutants don't have gender. I know there was something somewhere that explained that in fallout 1 but I don't remember its been a while since I've played it. Or was it fallout 2 that explained it I don't exactly remember which game explained and where it was explained. I think you had to have a high speech or science skill or something.

Mariposa Super Mutants have genders, the whole reason the Master's plan would have failed was because female Super Mutants were barren. Vault 87 Super Mutants are apparently asixual, but Super Mutants on the west coast retain their primary sixual characteristics.

I could have swore that master's plan would have failed because there was no genders. I thought It didn't matter if the subject was male or female they still turn out the same and there is no way to distinguish if they are male or female after they are turned into a super mutants. I really don't remember anything mentioning they keep their primary sixual characteristics until new Vegas came out...

Well I do know for a fact is that they were dipping people in the FEV because they have no way of reproducing in fallout 1. Genders or no genders they have no way of reproducing without exposing people to FEV.

I could be wrong but that's how I remembered it...

The log referring to the female super mutant was from a time when the vault had a working staff. Fawkes was locked in there by muties for being unlike them after they revolted and took over. If all super mutants lost their gender when dipped the Master would've realized immediately that his plan was impossible. Both the Master and the Vault Dweller refer to female super mutants in their conversation and the Master insists the FEV-2 virus doesn't destroy the reproductive organs of those it mutates. He just doesn't realize that it sterilizes them in another way as Mako explained.

I dunno how much Fallout 3 changed that, but Super Mutants are supposed to have genders. They become pretty similar, but they still have their reproductive organs. Only that they can't reproduce with them since they are sterile. In Fallout 2 we get to know that Marcus can have six, so he still has his thing and can still get it up an use it. There is talk about female super mutants, and in New Vegas we get to see two - Lily and Tabitha.

It has been pointed out already. Super mutants created from Mariposa have genitalia. There are females and males. They are so mutated and that it is hard to tell the difference. In Fallout a brotherhood scribe maned http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vree%27s_autopsy_report and she could not determine the gender of a super mutant. The Master thought that super mutants would be able to have kids. We have the option to tell him that super mutants are sterile.

Super mutants in Tactics were working on a cure for their sterility. MWBoS destroyed the lab or took it as a bargaining chip to control the super mutants. There are also female super mutants in Tactics and Bethesda has called the High-Level Events of Tactics canon.
