Why do dragons care about Skyrim?

Post » Tue Jan 28, 2014 4:18 am

So, according to lore, dragons come from Akavir, right? So... why did they ever give two [censored] about Skyrim lol? Why even come to Tamriel... and why not try and take over ALL of Tamriel, why only Skyrim? I mean, back in the old days when men in Skyrim worshipped dragons under Alduin, how come they never expanded past the province of Skyrim. This is a multiple part question I know so thanks for any and all info.

No, Dragons did not come from Akavir. There were Dragons in Akavir though, and now there aren't.

The Dragons in Skyrim are from Atmora.

I imagine that the Dragons never expanded past Skyrim, because they weren't interested in conquest.

Atmora may also possibly be Kamal or part of Kamal. Although there's no conclusive proof I've just always liked that theory.

As for why they didn't try to take over all of Tamriel, they don't seem to have ever gotten the chance. With the dragon war removing Alduin and scattering the dragons and then the Dragon guard hunting down a bunch of them in later centuries.

What does a Dragon care about Conquest? They fly where they want, loot where they want and do what they want, no matter what human lays claim to the land they fly over. At least until Alduin lead them on their Folly and wakened the Dragonborne.

There apparently were dragons all over the Mundus at one time. But there was a cult established in Skyrim and they probably were drawn to the people who revered them the most. Plus there were mountains everywhere.. dragons love mountains.

Some places just aren't all that accommodating to a lot of Dragons. Too much competition in Morrowind from the Cliff Racers to support a large number of them, for instance. That said, Dragons took up residence in Cyrodiil for a time if I recall, and I figure that High Rock and Northeastern Hammerfell would be likely places where you could find them. I'd like to see a dragon that adapted to the Alik'r personally.

Alduin always eats the Nords first. That's what it says in the seven fights of the Aldudagga. So why is that? Who knows, maybe it has something to do with them coming from Kyne, and maybe having more divine soulpower.

Or maybe it's some kind of middle finger to Shor. And since the other dragons follow Alduin, they'd stay focused on Skyrim with the Nords as well.
