Is anyone else starting to get annoyed with how fast and easily you become top dog in the different guilds. I mean come on, run a few quest's and BOOM!
-you are now Arch mage, listener, harbinger, etc, etc.
What happened to working for your title and earning your way. Is this what it takes to sell a game now, instant gratification?!
Yeah I know what you mean

I was stunned to suddenly find myself Arch-Mage... when I did not have a single magic skill over 25!!! Hell, other than Shouts, I think I have used magic exactly three times in the entire game (a ward during the training in the College, once in Saarthal to bust a wall and once on a Dwemer machine to a solve puzzle and... that's it). I am more of a sword-through-the-chest kind of player :celebration:
Likewise I would have made Aela the new Harbinger rather than taken the job myself.
As for the Assassins (I wiped them out) and Thieves (ditto), I refused to follow the plot lines. I am Thane of every single Hold, I am a personal friend of Ulfric Stormcloak and I am known by the title Stormblade, I am the Dragonborn who defeated Alduin and averted the End of the World, I am stinking rich wealthy beyond the wildest dreams of avarice... so why the hell would I be consorting with low life scumbag thieves in the Ratway or psychopathic assassins-for-hire? I don't think so.
You should at least get the option of refusing the various top jobs so that someone more qualified can take the role and not break immersion so badly.
