Why is My Ebony Armor rated lower than my Dwarven?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 4:12 am

man, this is getting kinda ridiculous

seems nothing i do makes sense

i even tried enchanting the ebony armor with smithing, that did nothing.

the magic glitch showing 4 silver rings (which is impossible), the armor showing the correct rating sometimes, but not when worn. i cant be the only one with this problem, no?

i would appreciate it, if someone would make dwarf and ebony armor, with full heavy armor and enchantments, with 4 items of 25% smithing (the largest w/o potions) gets on the armor rating? I dont like potions, which is why i went with heavy armor perks instead of potions

i tried figuring out the formula for heavy armor, but i'm too stupid to figure it out

displayed armor rating = (worn armor rating + item quality) * (1 + 0.4 * skill/100) * (1 + Custom Fit or Well Fitted + Matching Set) * (1 + Agile Defender or Juggernaut)
+ (shield armor rating + item quality) * (1 + 0.4 * skill/100) * (1 + Custom Fit or Well Fitted + Matching Set)
+ effects (x-skin spells, Lord Stone, etc.)
hidden armor rating = 40 for wearing (chest) armor + 20 for each additional piece worn
damage reduction% = (displayed armor rating + hidden armor rating) * 0.12

what is item quality?

Item quality is the "Fine", "Superior" etc that you get when you sharpen/workbench the weapon/armour. Other than that, I can't help - this is a very odd situation.

To me it seems the 25% extra armor perk when wearing a full set is bugged for your ebon armor...

i thought armor caps at like 670ish. deadshadow, did you smith them exactly the same?

not really stressing, more like bugging me. i mean what else is glitched? is my armor rating completely wrong? what if the numbers mean gibberish

I've seen this mentioned in the PC support section, so that is probably it.

oh man, i finally figured it out. it is the 25% armor perk for wearing a matching set. It does not apply to ebony for me, although it works for dwarven, daedric, glass, and iron lol at least those are the ones i tried. works on all those except ebony. wtf

is this an item i wear? or a permanent thing?

Go into your magic and look through "Active Effects", in there is the relevant thing you are looking for. I have it too, was from a Lexicon mission i think.
