Why is everyone mad over the water?

Look at that water to the right in the image. 'Nuff said.

I know, you're mad over that rapids water, but after looking at this water, I assume that rapids river water was an unfinished product or something similar to the likes of that.

So please, stop doubting Bethesda, they're doing an amazing job. ;)

Edit: When I said that everyone was mad over the river water, I meant the rapids shown in the gameplay trailer. Sorry!

What is wrong with the water?
I personally think it looks great. I have not heard anyone complain about it.

Graphics don't matter much to me tho, I would be fine with Morrowind water.

Well the water everyone is bothered about is the rapids water. The river water you can see in the village scene where the hooded man walks in and where the guy gets stabbed in the gut. If you can get screens of those and put them in the OP, people can see the real river water, though it looks more impressive in motion, where it actually looks like a river.

I think people were referring to the rapids shown in the trailer; not the cave water. It doesn't look the best, but everything else in the game looks fantastic so I think people should just let this fault slip past.

Are you saying the rapids water isn't the best? If your talking about the cave water not being the best, put down the skooma. The cave water and the river water (not the rapids that everyone whines about) are crysis quality. But I'm pretty sure your talking about the rapids hehe.

people will complain about anything so they have something to do. The water tbh is good enough. Bethesda is doin the best they are. some people need to be happy that beth is putting out this BA game. The other threads on the page are all complaining "lolcanthewaterbebetterbeth?" mainly its them :swear:

I dont know what some people were expecting, but w/e there pre-concieved idea's were - wasn't realistic..

Since esp for a console - all what was in that trailer was more than contempary for a 2011 game.

Every game programmer and artist is basically in agreement in this regard.

Forum has been overrun with water threads since yesterday. Have you not seen some of the ridiculous posts?

Water looks fantastic to me as does everything else.

Oh I have not been on much since yesterday so that's probably why. But it looks fine to me.

Water looks fine. I remember getting oblivion the first time, and staring into the water like ".....Woh."

I think the water looks great and I love that it moves. The only thing that seems odd to me are the white water rapids. Then again, I've never seen any game company attempt to put those in a game before, so there's nothing to compare it to within the video gaming world. I don't think they're bad, though.

I'm more concerned with what's happening to that guy's wrist. Looks painful.

The only problem with that screen is that the water flows uphill.
Otherwise it's great.

This! Nice work Noah. Everyone look at that river and rejoice! Then watch the trailer again and see it moving! Now that water in Skyrim actually moves and actually applies force such as sweeping your character away and it even spins the waterwheel in that village. Don't believe me? Watch the trailer!

If you look at all the water it (I think) looks great, the river next to the robed man walking in twon you can see actualy looks like a flowing river. The waterfall and stream in the cave looks great, the river where the bandit gets gutted looks great to. If you look at the rapids they look pretty good, there the best white water I've seen in most games, I think people just dont realise that all water isnt shiny and reflective. In fact you wont see a reflection in white water rapids any better than if you look at a rock.

Nicely put, especially the part about the rock

I think most of the people that think the water needs to be shiny probably live in a city and haven't actually been out in nature. Hell, I can see white water rapids whenever I want because I can walk 100 yds and look down into the river and see it and BGS did a damn good job of trying to replicate that.

That screenshot reminds me of a Morrowind mod that makes the Vivec waterfalls looks like that. It looks really good!
On the rapids: The games is 9 months away from release, I'm sure they (or a modder) can fix it.

The trailer gives no real indication that water has force that moves that water wheel. Not that I completely believe that it doesn't, that water mill could even easier to just be a simple transform animation and not turning because of actual physics interaction!

The simplest and probably more likely scenario is that it is just a transform animation

I live in the city I do not think the white water looks great but in other parts of the trailer the water looks great. So at the moment I am believing what you guys are saying about the white water because i don't know any better. :) lol

The water still makes me mad; very mad. So mad that I punched a hole through my wall and then ripped my hair out and then slit my wrists with a bread knife. This is 2011. I expect nothing less than photo-realistic water, dog gonnitt!!!!!
It was the first thing I noticed when watching the video and it has been plaguing my mind like a viral nightmare. So Bethesda, please fix that god awful rapids water.
