Why is everyone obsessed with Whiterun and Lydia?

You say you like Solitude and in your signature you say "Death to the Legion". You do know Solitude is the Legion's city right?

Not Anymore. I killed every single Legion soldier, in the city and in the docks. All I see is Storm Cloaks. It's not a Legion city anymore.

it's not a glitch. I'm thinking off the top of my head how to help people. There's the White Phial, the murders, the Dark Elf merchant who needs to put a stolen ring back to the owner, the vegetable merchant who needs something, the guy who lost his daughters (give him a drink.

Did White Phial, Butcher, Dunmer, Brawl, Book, Mead,... Killed a Giant, a dragon... and they asked me for that again and now it's flying backwards :brokencomputer:

I JUST WANT TO KILL MY WIFE AND LAY HER ON THE ALTER.... why can't i have my  way? do you know?

Mine is Windhelm, the snowiest city in Skyrim and the oldest human city in all of Tamriel, plus the leader of the stormcloaks is the jarl there, I feel like its the best place in skyrim to be and it feels like the main capital of the land, though I know it isn't, at least not the only one.

Your game is not glitched. It took me a long time to figure it out. I just helped everyone out and then all of a sudden I was able to buy a house. Do favors for the people in the palace maybe.

Oh wait, try looking for work at the inn, that might be what your missing. And Hall of the Dead.

Wow, I was so sure she was a Breton. Though I thought she was kind of tall for a Breton. But then again, playing as a High Elf, everyone feels short to me. She looks Breton, you have to admit that her face looks Breton.

I wish she was a breton because I always play bretons and want to marry my own kind lol but she always talks about cyrodiil and I looked it up one day and it said she was imperial

I like Windhelm. Some people don't like it because of the dunmar complaining. But my good friend High Elf merchant near the forge will tell you a different side of the story.

I just feel that the atmosphere and the environment in Whiterun feels so friendly, made my character feels "at-home" while the other ones, like Markarth, is beautiful, but it feels too big and grand for me, I guess.
And Solitude is too big and devoid of life somehow. Riften is just dodgy.. Windhelm and Winterhold.. too cold and foggy. LOL I guess it's just my personal preference. So Whiterun is pretty much my all-time favorite so far. :)

I currently live in Solitude. I was forced to choose that town because Windhelm is unobtainable (thank you Bethesda). I am married to Camilla and Jorgis my housecarl lives at my house as well. mostly every night we engage in naughty behaviors :intergalactic:

The moment I overheard that Solitude is the capital of Skyrim, I moved there. Whiterun was simply my first home because that's where the game first leads you to. The house you get svcks there anyways. Windhelm is my secondary home, just because that's where the other army stayed.

My favorites are Windhelm and Riften. Windhelm has a great house, not too big and not too small, so does Riften, but I just use the Riften house for its garden.

I don't know. I'm struggling between Riften, Solitude, and Windhelm. For Riften, I get to be close to business. For Solitude, I can monitor Jarl Elisif and makes sure the Stormcloaks keep order. For Windhelm, well I'm a Stormcloak so it's good being at the center of operations.

Spent a good bit of time in Whiterun, and it's a nice, safe, clean town. I've only spent a little bit of time in Riften, although I'll probably head that way before long and see if I can get a little law and order going on there. Windhelm's a bit bleak, so I've only been there a few times, but the surrounding area is nice enough I suppose.

Markarth is an all-around unhappy place. Like somebody else said, the Forsworn are bloodthirsty savages and the Silverbloods are corrupt criminal scum. It's like a city being squeezed to death in a fight between the Gotti syndicate and the Taliban or something. [censored] 'em both. I'd say more, but I've already asked people to be a bit more circumspect about what potential spoilers they reveal in these threads, so I gotta practice what I preach on that.

Solitude and Markarth for me.

Like a previous poster I love the Imperial atmosphere of Solitude, the diversity and its architecture is to die for. While I'm still saving to purchase the mansion there I'm quite looking forward to it. I really like The Winking Skeever as well. Probably my favorite pub in Skyrim with it's beautiful Breton bard, interesting barkeep and family, plus there's always someone in there. Solitude just feels right to me.

Markarth may have it's issues but the city is gorgeous. Plus seeing as I'm a Breton it's close to home. I also sympathize with the Forsworn and had it not been for Ulfrics merry band of bandits the city would still be under their rule. I'm looking forward to a mod that will allow this to happen. :)

It's not a bug.....my very first house ever was in Windhelm. Check the Hall of the Dead, the vegatable lady, the guy who lost his daughter, the murders, the general store merchant, the inn.

I wanted to marry a High Elf like me, but no High Elves are available for marriage. But I am happy with my marriage with Camilla.....she's still a Breton in my eyes lol.

I don't really know why... But I simply hate the Reach and Markarth. I hate walking in those valleys and cliffs. I hate needing to go around the entire Reach just to reach (no pun indeed) a not-so-high cliff. I hate to get lost in Markarth and I specially hate the Forsworn. :mohawk:

Markarth has really ugly characters, but I've made some good friends there, not everyone in Markarth is evil, there's some really good people. Besides being a beautiful city, the wildlife area in Markarth Hold is probably the most beautiful in all of Skyrim.
I hate the Forsworn too, except the old Goth lady who works at the Hags Cure in Markarth. She's hilarious.

I prefer Whiterun to all other holds because my main house is there, and the Jarl's a pretty cool guy. I just somehow feel loyalty to Whiterun, like its my home-city.

Windhelm and Aela. (She's quiet. Imagine that.)

I used to like Mjoll, until she told me about her father for a 9 kajillionth time.

I told Delphine: "I've found the perfect recruit for you."

I would guess that by now the remaining Blades have either thrown her from the cliffs or committed suicide.

So far, my favorite city has been Whiterun, but I'm starting to get used to Solitude and am saving up to buy a house there. Being from a large town/small city myself, Whiterun is just more comfortable. I was absolutely lost the first time I was in Solitude (and Windhelm for that matter), but I'm learning my way around now that I've started going back there. I'm not welcome in Markarth anymore and Riften is too scummy for my tastes. 120 hours in, and I still haven't been to Falkreath.

the things I like about whiterun are: blessing of Kynarith, enchanting with mage that sells gems right there, 3 blacksmiths to raise up smithing, the best alchemist supplies (seems theres more ingredients available). I usually head to whiterun to trade loot and raise up crafting. Seems like the easiest to fast travel from dragon reach to the gate and get it all done in less time.

Whiterun is the first house for 99% of the people, unless they got horribly (or wonderfully for some) lost. It's proximity to the stores is it's key attractiveness.

That and my existing book collection numbered in hundreds and includes every single book/note/letter/recipe of a 250 hour playthough. I'm too lazy to be moving that those until I get my Dwemer Airship.
