Well said!
My biggest complaint ever about Fallout 4 is that it makes it so I cant stand to replay Fallout 3 or New Vegas (Because in 4 you can do so much MORE!!!) Now with that being said, the game feels much more linear then the past Fallout games. There were usually 2 sides that were kinda Protagonists to each other. NCR and Ceisar's Legion, etc with several smaller factions. For some reason it seems a bit less in 4, even though I'm pretty sure it's not. Maybe it's just that certain factions can give you a endless stream of recover or kill quests that make me think this way, I don't know.
But yes. We all knew this game was going to be Game of the Year when it was annouced. And to go so far above and beyond all of that, you guys at Bethesda have hit it out of the F@#!ing ballpark!!!!
I have to agree that at this time this may just be the best game ever made. Congratulations at raising the bar so damn high that your going to have to work triple time on Fallout 5 and the next Elder Scrolls games just to match it.
I have to ask, are you playing it on a PC? What are your system specs. I've come to expect a little forgiveness with the Fallout series and bugs, but honestly. I've only noticed one bug in the game and it's only in the very beginning when doing a dialog or exiting Vault 111 for the first time you lose all keyboard and mouse. Well, maybe 2 bugs, sometimes my Pipboy and weapon go invisible till I switch from 1st to 3rd person view and back again, that fixes it. Maybe the glasses are a bit rose colored for me right now because I'm used to dealing with Neverwinter MMO and the massive amount of BS bugs that constantly get paraded out the door by the developers in that game.
BTW, fairs fair. I am playing FO:4 on a PC. With the Nvidia 970 graphics card and Intel I7 processor. Hell, Fallout 4 doesn't even have that annoying sound loop bug I always encounter in FO:3 and FO:NV
I think I proved my point as the only ones disagreeing with me are insulting and calling me the troll when I gave good reasons why it's the best game so far of this decade, whereas they gave none to prove me wrong.
Easily game of the year. But is it game of the decade, beating out Skyrim, New Vegas, and probably TES VI?
I don't know. Its only been a week and a bit since release, so we'll have to see if it stands the test of time compared to the other games, but I have no doubt that people will love it just as much as the rest.
LOL dude come on, Metacritic reviews put the Fallout at 8.5 or higher depending on the plataform but then the User reviews if u take the time to read the reviews are pathetic 0 bc someone else told me to give this game a 0 - Skyrim wiht guns - Oblivion with guns.
Giving a 0 is just pathetic when it come down to a review even if u hate it. 0 mean destroy lol i rated Batman AK a 4 bc issues of PC but that didnt mean the game was bad. Im sorry but Steam prove my point and other website that arent full with [censored] for witcher or fallout.
Ps4.I gave up on pc gaming many moons ago
Which is nearly a failure for a AAA game these days.
New Vegas got a 84, and people seem to like it a lot regardless.
They gave MGS5 a 9.3 so clearly they can't be trusted.
Yep. One point away from getting the bonus they were promised by Bethesda. In Bethesda's own eyes: obviously a failure.
For me it is too early to make a call on whether FO4 is GOTY. I have barely scratched the surface of the game. No patches have come out yet other than the day 1. No DLC has been released yet to augment the base game. I want ti to be, though. Fallout has a very special place in my black little heart. This IP has always scratched an itch for me that no other can. But we shall see.
I don't think you can compare FO4 to Witcher 3. I do think it's fair to bring it up in that both games are contenders for GOTY. They are two completely different kinds of games. Personally I don't think the naming of a GOTY really means much outside of business/marketing concerns. It doesn't affect me. I see no need to have to choose one game over another, and am perfectly happy enjoying both.
I can't believe that I am liking this more than SKYRIM! I love the power armor, the graphics, the gun customization and color palette...
Highly doubt this. We saw two GTA releases in the 360 generation and zero so far on the current. A reworked version of V does not constitute a new game. 360 released in 2005 and GTA4 came out in 2008, with 5 coming in 2013. Current gen consoles have only been out for 2 years and probably have another 5-6 in them. I'd really doubt they didn't plan on coming out with another after the overwhelming success of 5. It revitalized the series
I have been a huge fan of the TES series and Beth in general. I also love the Battlefield franchise. FO4 has elements of both I love, FPS and RPG. I am really enjoying this game and can't wait for the DLC's and what the mod community comes up with. I really haven't strayed too much into any other franchises so I can't compare. All I can say is this game will definitely have me playing it for several 100 hours until BF5 and/or TES VI come out.
Thats how contracts work. I don't think Bethesda and Obsidian really like breaking contracts, even if money is involved.
And Bethesda absolutely does not consider New Vegas a failure. They've stated many times how happy they are with Obsidian's work, and Obsidian with Bethesda's.
We're not discussing how contracts work. We're discussing what is or is not considered a critical failure for an AAA game in modern times. By Bethesda's VERY OWN standards, an 84 is a failure. A failure enough to not give them a LOT of money.
Its just a bonus for a high metacritic rating. If they consider New Vegas a complete failure, maybe they would withdrawl it from sale like they did with Brotherhood of Steel, declare it non-canon or something. If anything I think they're unhappy that they couldnt give Obsidian the bonus, since they've worked closely with them and are very happy with their work. But contracts are contracts, and the reviewers say that they couldn't give them the bonus.
We're not speaking in absolutes, either. We're speaking of tiers of success. By Bethesda's VERY OWN standards, Fallout New Vegas sadly failed to meet their cut-off point for optimal success.
EDIT: In fact, something tells me that every employee at Obsidian upon hearing they weren't getting that huge bonus considered the situation more of a failure than a success. Money talks. It also tends to keep your employees employed and your company in business.
I'm a TES fan first and prefer swords and sorcery to guns but I'm enjoying this much more the Witcher 3. I can't place my finger on what it is about the Witcher that doesn't grab me, I bought it because I like RPG's and fantasy but I have yet to even put a dent in it. There's just so much that gets tedious at times and most of the "story" that's so highly praised is boring and uninteresting (except the Bloody Baron and a few other gems). The find Dandelion quest (searching all over to end up at the starting point) coupled with the stupid costume ball (wth is a monster slayer doing there?) svcked the steam out it so much that I put it on the play later list.
It's got my vote for GOTY as imo it's better then the other games that came out (Star Wars failed so hard).
I see a lot of love for Farcry 4 and Witcher 3 here. My problem with these games is I just cannot stand to be forced to play the given character. For me the character is the foundation and to be handed one, well I may as well be watching a movie.
I am loving F4 becasue of its very sandboxy nature. I think some people will hate it for the same reason. My list of complaints is short but kind of glaring. Hopefully modders will remedy them.
I am about 25 hours in and my assessment so far is that it is great, though not as jaw dropping [censored] me running awesome as Skyrim.
