I don't remmeber people complaining about Morrowind compared to Daggerfall when the former was released. Maybe it was because of it's popularity back then, the games were not as massively played as they are now, and several people were discovering Bethesda's games for the first time. So the vocal minorities were not really as loud.
With Oblivion I did read some comments over the internet about it, but it was mostly well received, all that changed with Skyrim though, getting praised everywhere also ensured that everyone and their mother played it, that meant shortly after you would find lots of people complaining about the game and comparing it to oblivion and to morrowind, at this point people still ignore Daggerfall by a huge margin because the first two ES are treated like if they don't even exist. The conditions are really different now because Fallout 4 had to be compared with The Witcher 3, with Fallout 3, with Skyrim, with Fallout New Vegas, with Oblivion, Morrowind, and people always brings up the aspects at which those games do something better, people rarely compare Fallout 4 to point out where this game is superior to the games I listed.
So as expected Fallout 4 has a lot more competition than Morrowind, and the likes, it is expected to have everything and much more. When in reality this game is really not much different from other Bethesda games, at least in my case I can say I am used to play new Bethesda games that add a lot of new stuff, while also missing other lot of old stuff. They have always done that with all their games, I find it strange that people didnt start noticing that until now.
