Why Ghouls can't be human again?

Post » Sat Feb 27, 2016 1:14 am

1.) The Institute doesn't care about Ghouls or anyone else on the surface.

2.) Synths aren't humans.

3.) You can't reverse ghoulification. Too much damage has been done to their bodies at this point. You can't find a "cure" for it because it isn't a disease or a virus, it's a mutation.

I loved you, but if you liked then you shoulda put a ring on it, don't be mad when you see that he want it.

Did the institute study the ghouls and told you there is no cure?

'Creating' can't be compared to 'fixing'.

I'm sure you can sculpt a vase with clay. But can you fix a vase that's been shattered into small pieces? Chances are you can't

If you like him as a character, why not romance him? it's a video game, you can't get ghoul cooties from him.

What part of you can't cure a mutation do you not understand? Even if they somehow managed to cure the long life and radiation immunity (though I don't see why anyone would want to do that), they couldn't cure their appearance. Their bodies are damaged, their skin is decaying, you can't cure that.

They may look ugly, but other than their appearance and potentially going feral they are far more suited to survive in the wasteland than humans are.

In term of roleplaying, ghouls smell like rotten flesh, and if some people may like to headcanon their character and how their life would be after the game. I can't get with him, as Hancock said, waking up next to that face every morning and smelling rotten corpses. It's not very pleasant. It's like straight guys who may not be able to get into a gay relationship with a character because they roleplay themselves as that character and can't see themselves intimate in that way.

So, my favorite companion in FO3 is Charon, the tall, silent, cranky bodyguard. He's a ghoul. If he were to make his way to Boston I wouldn't be able to dump Danse fast enough to make way for him. So, yeah, I don't personally see a problem with romancing anyone in game if you like them. Obviously if you don't like the character enough you won't be able to overcome any inherent squeamishness about that character's model, but for me it's a lot more about the voice and personality than it is about the actual model of the character.

Edit:

Sure, but I don't care. Charon is like my all time #1 favorite companion despite the icky ghoul stuff.

And I loved them quite a bit in New Vegas. Haven't tried it yet in Fallout 4, but I did just start a new character two days ago, so there's plenty of time for me to romance everything I can.

Of course I loved everything that moved there too. Male, female, robot...ghoul. I would've loved a super mutant if it were possible.

We are now enemies. :sadvaultboy:

Yeah, it's just roleplaying purposes. I like to input myself as a character and imagine a life with them. As much as I like MacCready, I always imagine him to smell like a bag of garbage since he has a dirty body and his teeth look worse than British people. I always like to think how my character would be compartible with a person and I'm a germaphobe, I like cleanliness, so if a person smells bad all the time, especially rotten flesh smell, I don't think the relationship would last very long, especially for my characters. It's just difference I guess. Maybe I'm just shallow. :P

Nah, I'm sure Danse's essential tag will let him easily kick Charon's button and show you who the superior companion is

Edit: ignore that mumbo jumbo, the mobile site hates me sometimes, dang quotes.

No, please don't hate me

No,you aren't! You have a great imagination. I prioritize voice over looks. Even if they look like they smell , it's okay with me because this is a game, so I can't smell them, but I can hear therm.

I'm sure you say the same to every OP you met.

But romance a Ghoul is sickening!

Not only because their appearance is like romancing a zombie, but it is toxic, unhealthy, is a radiating relationship!

And how is exactly the six?

If they are going to give monsters to romance I want to romance Codsworth and Dogmeat!, [censored] every rare thing in the world!

Beside the fact everyone is curious how Hancock looked before the drugs.

Well that depends. Remove his power armor and essential tag, them him and Charon would be on equal footing, and I believe Danse would go down quickly.

The fact that you call non feral ghouls says a lot about you. They are no less human than you are.

You could do it, maybe

Ghoulifacation is a full body cellular change, and you would need to preform a complete reconstruction of their biology without killing them.

It would be equivalent to turning a cat into a dog with genetic engineering. Or perhaps modifying a horse into a chimpanzee, why not turn a fish into a tree, all are the same type of procedure you would need to develop to turn a ghoul into a human specifically.

Super mutants are created as an accident, they were not the goal, genetic changes resulted in unexpected results. The scientists never set out to turn humans into super mutants, they set out to turn humans into something else. And that goal is super easy.

Sure you could do it with extensive genetic reengineering, cell transplantation, heavy dosages of life support, and drugs, but it would require so much effort for no legitimate purpose.

I can't f**kHancock humanity.

Sweetheart, I don't care of the fact the Ghouls are people, humans, etc etc, I just want them to look human again, and don't get killed by the radiation if I am standing at their side!

Really, if the game is going to have crazy things like six with a Ghoul without you getting an extra arm, then why we can't have a cure for the ghouls?

No one of them want to look like zombies.

--------

For the guy saying that the mutation can't be cured, how you explain Virgil?

Well, we will have to agree to disagree on this point. None of the characters are actually real, their models are arbitrary and there are no negative consequences in real life or in the game to romancing them. If one can imagine a certain character would be acceptable to romance when human then I think the character would be acceptable as a ghoul or super mutant or synth. I think games are for doing stuff I'd never do in RL and there is no chance I'd romance anything like a corpse irl. But this is a game, so irl rules don't apply.

Huh. Okay, now I have a burning desire to have them fight. Charon and his sweet combat shotgun v Danse out of his PA with his laser rifle. The anti-BOS ghoul v the anti-ghoul BOS guy. It'd be pretty epic.

Radiation rips through DNA, changing it.
Growing (which is basically what your examples are) is not the same as repairing all DNA found within a body.

Aside from that, this would essentially take ghouls out of fallout.

Every game has logic, If I can do everything I want then why I can't hit my wife at the start of the game and throw my baby to the trash?

The game has his logic, if you get radiation, you die, how you exactly explain that you don't die in the six with Hancock?
