Why Goblins always have lock picks?

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:09 am

I always wonder this...they live underground, in caves, what lock pick is used for them?

Another thing, they have locked chests, but no keys? Maybe that is why they have lock picks, but how they lock their chests in the first place anyway?

Goblins are dimwitted, shiftless characters, so it doesn’t surprise me that they don’t know about keys, or much else for that matter. They don’t even know the chests are there, much less who locked them. The lock picks are probably stolen from somewhere and used to pick their teeth. They have their place in Nirn, but their only redeeming feature is that they know how to fight, usually in gangs.

You ask why gobins have lockpicks - it might be bizarre, but hey, at least they have hands to use the picks.

The real question, is why do rats, mudcrabs and wolves have lockpicks. And gold.

I figure they eat them, too. Lockpicks because people drop them through holes in their shabby pockets, gold and jewels because they're sparkly/shiny. Birds on earth collect such things, why not animals in Tamriel?

I find goblins quite clever and able to use all kinds of tools and civilized amenities. . .

They like shiny things, However, all these Lockpicks are removed from them in the Summerset Isles. Wouldn't want the slaves getting out, would we?

I've have actually very much wondered about why there are so many locked chests in various dungeons, but very few keys.

That doesn't make any sense.

As far as lockpicks on Goblins, not quite sure on that one either. But Goblins tend to be agile and lockpicking is an agility skill. So I guess it fits, sort of.

The lack of keys is obvious. The owner of the chest dies, and then body and key are removed by the caretakers to stop Cyrodiil drowning in corpses. Then new occupants take up residence to stop the place looking empty. It's actually a very complicated operation, which is why no caretaker is ever seen. :ninja:

Me too. They're clever, the way some people are "street smart". I don't think TES highlights this, though., not as much as it should be.

Goblins should be able to climb, hide in small places, and then use these advantages to figure out ways to trick us. In Oblivion, all they do is stand around, and then attack us if they notice us.

Same as most other enemy NPC's, really. In some tabletop games of my past, goblins actually start with more intelligence than average humans. There were some really talented goblin smiths and wizards and warriors in the tabletops!

especially since they mostly all respawn! Who's putting stuff in these chests, and then hiding the keys?

It's good to just do nothing for a change. Nothing but game-out, and "discuss" serious topics. Like why are all the chests locked in our game, if there are no keys? And why, praytell, do goblins hoard lockpicks? :geek:

We really have to get to the bottom of this.

^See there ya go!

I wonder why Lady Saga (a wood elf) is so freakishly taller than any other wood elf in her game.

Baa got to the bottom of Rosethorn Hall in Skingrad the other day, then used toggle collision to go through the floor, and guess what? She found a Leyawiin shield that fell through the floor a couple of years ago. No Goblins though. Does that help?

I think the chests may be opened, refilled, then relocked by the same thing that thought us to believe in the tooth fairy - your on imagination and a willingness to believe the unbelievable.

I'm sure Lady Saga is not 'freakishly taller' than other wood elves; I bet she is probably 'statuesque'. Just like Buffy is not 'freakishly shorter' than other wood elves; she is 'elven petite'.

I wonder about the spoons I find in them sometimes. Were the crabs eating soup, or was someone trying to eat them with soup?

I wonder how Lord Rugdump got to be the way he is. Beautiful house, out in the middle of literally nowhere. How did he do it if he's so dysfunctional?
