Why in gods name?!?!?!?!

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:10 am

I download the Necessities of Morrowind mod, only to find that it doesn't include all the meshes/textures required to run it. It is missing a particular Hlaalu Well Mesh and Texture or whatevver.

Hoow do I fix this???? I mean it is on the Hall of Fame on planet elder scrollls. so why this ridiculousness??

Did you double check to make sure you installed those meshes to the right location?

That's where I got my NoM and it works fine.
Try re-installing the mod, manually.

I always install manually. The problem is the meshes don't exist!! I've re-downloaded from planet elder scrolls and their is NO hlaalu well mesh or anything related really.

So, what kind of error are you getting? Is it the standard missing mesh error that results in the exclamation mark appearing in the game? I just downloaded the mod from PES, and I was able to find the Hlaalu well mesh in the Meshes/NI subfolder. I assume you downloaded the file called "NOM_21302.7z"?

I'n not using NoM, but a conservative guess is that the fault is on the OP's end, which will make his hyperbolic outburst reflect back on himself more than anything else. As a groundrule: if you have such conspicuous issues with a mod that have thousands of satisfied users the problem is in all probability on the users end.

Who cares who's fault it is, he's just frustrated. If you know the filename try to unzip a new copy of the mod and search the folder (right click it and hit search).

Can you post the exact file-name for the missing mesh (...or texture)? If you're getting an error message related to it in-game, it should also be listed in your warnings.txt file. Copy/paste that here.

I don't see anything obviously missing from the PES version of NoM (the NOM_21302.7z file--which I'll assume is the one you downloaded...? The other is an obsolete version.), from just a quick glimpse at it. There are a number of sub-folders in both the \Meshes and \Textures folders, though, so it's easy to miss something.

Did you download Wyre's version? If so, it requires the base NoM install.

Sorry for my flip out tone and stuff... I don't mean to sound like an angry ignorant ten year old.

As to your questions.....

One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information.
TES3Stream Warning: Model "Meshes\NI\NI_ex_hlaalu_well.nif" tex not found "textures\water\water00.dds"!
TES3Stream Warning: Model "Meshes\NI\NI_ex_hlaalu_well.nif" tex not found "textures\water\water00.dds"!
Texture Load Error!: textures\water\water00.dds

There's my warnings.txt

I'm not quite sure what else to do besides download all available NOM's from various sources.

Okay I dont the water00.dds file thats it.

Seriusly. the texture file water00.dds does not exist. WTF???

Just double-checked the NOM_21302.7z file from PES. The NI_ex_hlaalu_well.nif file is included in that download. Check your Data Files\Meshes\NI folder to make sure it's there. If it's not, add it in.

As for the texture error: I can't find that file in either the 213 file or the older version. A Google search brings up some results for Calislahn's Telperion mod, though. Are you using that mod? Or any other mods that might have NoM functions?

Using Calislahn's Telperion mod? never heard of it and def not using it.

Ummm and as far as I know NoM is the only mod with usable wells.

And the person above me has confirmed it!!!!!! THE TEXTURE DOES NOT EXIST

Why does a hall of fame mod not have all its components??

Could you post your modlist, just in case? A number of housing mods are NoM-functional and may include NoM-related files (like the water00.dds).

Edit:  The texture does exist. We just have to find the mod it came from. It may not be from NoM itself.

I have no idea what mod it came from, but I have WATER00.dds. If you PM me your email address, I can just send it to you. Interestingly, I don't have or use NOM, so I must have gotten it from another mod, probably a NOM compatiable house mod.

Put it directly into your textures file, there was no subfolder.

It has been a while since I messed with Morrowind, but if memory serves you're talking about one of the default textures. I think MGE overwrites those, so perhaps the missing texture is a product of a messed up MGE install or uninstall. You would know better than I. Anyway, I know Harlanrm uploaded a tweaked water shader for an ancient version of MGE, which included the original water textures (like the one you're missing). If you can find that, you're all set. Alternatively you might be able to pull it off your Morrowind disks without having to re-install the game, but someone else will have to tell you how, because I don't know.

Edit: beaten to it :D

Thank you everybody for your help and patience... everything works perfect now.

Now, I have a request If anyone knows.

Is there any like..... pipe and tobacco mods? you know... in all fantasy books and more, everyone relaxes too a nice ale and their pipe.

I'm doing an intense RP now that everything works, and this would work just.... perfectly. :) It would be cool if a mod existed where you could buy pipes, tobacco, and then their was an animation for smoking it... but maybe i'm hoping for too much here.

I think there's a water00.dds file in with Dongle's well meshes. His has all sorts of different water statics/rapids/flows, perhaps you could search there? I'll check my textures and see if I have an upload when I get back from work.
