Why has Fallout become The Sims Nuclear Survivor Edition?

Look settlement building is fun and all but seriously, is it just me or is literally just a waste of data that could of been used for more quests and places to explore? Dont get me wrong. Having a single settlement that you can build and maintain would of been fine but now I feel like im playing clash of clans on a bigger screen? And dont get me started on Preston...

I can totally relate to being annoyed by Preston, but personally I love the settlement building. It's not just an 'extra' or a tacked on bonus to me. It's a central part of the game. I can understand how someone would not be too fond of it, but many of us thoroughly enjoy it. The bright side is that it's optional. You can avoid it by just not building more than one, or you can limit it to just a few. You can still complete the quests to unlock the settlement, but after doing so just send the settlers to your pre-existing settlements. Building the radio beacons is part of the quests, so you can just build it and scrap it later, or turn it off in case you change your mind and want to build on it later.

Alternatively, you can elect to not join the Minutemen or simply elect to not help the other settlements when Preston asks you to.

The game is massive and there are over 300 marked locations (with probably 500 other unmarked items and things to explore). There are tons of quests and faction quests and weapons armor and more. Why would you be frustrated with them implementing settlements.

Settlements or towns and improved home building has been a community request overwhelmingly since Morrowind... It took them over decade and a half to add it in now you want it gone?

I understand that people enjoy it. I enjoy it to some degree too. But it doesn't seem appropriate for a game thats meant to focus on conflict and saving/killing the world to go Farmville. It'd be like legend of zelda letting you build your own towns

Over a decade to carefully plan and properly implement, and they did a [censored] job adding it to Fallout 4.

All the clutter on the ground can't be cleaned up, there's no easy way to tracking what your settlers are doing, the resource tracking for settlements doesn't always work correctly, there's no way to recall provisioners without hunting them down in the wastes and following them to one of your settlements, etc.. The list goes on and on and on..
