Why hasn't there been any gameplay videos since E3?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 10:46 am

It seems everything that Bethesda released of the game was shown at E3....and then nothing else after that....and the game comes out literally next week.

Am I Just stupid for not looking hard enough or do Bethesda have a reason why they aren't releasing any gameplay footage?

You can find plenty of 'unofficial' stuff if you look hard enough. Honestly the more I see though the more I think I know why they are not officially showing anything. Really disappointed in what I've seen so far so if anything my hype is going down.

As far as why Bethesda isn't showing more ... got me. You think we'd at least get that Quakecon vid by now ... unless the viewers reviews of it were not that favorable.

but they are a video game company that are selling a product...that makes no sense not to show gameplay videos before launch

They have overdone it with the secrecy and I think this is starting to work against them. Have they rushed it? Does it have some terrible flaw? Is it riddled with bugs (more than usual)?

These questions come to mind.

But on the other hand, it's Bethesda that has given us to many great games so we ought to have some faith in them.

They did at E3.

How does seeing more gameplay tell you anything you don't know about what gameplay looks like?

Well off the top of my head, not crazy about the auto loot pop-up every time you look at something. And I can already tell I'm going to get REAL TIRED of hearing my PC say "Nope, can't open that", etc. every time I look at a lock or PC I can't open or hack. That is going to be real old fast. Hope there's a way to turn that off.

are you actually defending bethesda on their lack of gameplay videos for their video game? There are plenty of things i could learn from gameplay videos...unfortunately most of these things ive learned have come from the leaks.

Becuase Todd doesnt like doing trailers, and would rather work on the game.

Like, if todd had his way, the game would be announced and relased the same day.

i'm not talking about another gameplay trailer

i'm talking about one guy walking around and exploring for 15 minutes. why couldn't they just do that?

Because that's a trailer, and they would rather spend time working on the game them making trailers.

Yes, I don't see why that is odd?

Marketing is about showing enough of the game so that people make a decision to buy.

If those things you have learned in the leaks clinched a purchasing decision that E3 had not generated, then you have a point.

If you had already decided to purchase then additional information is just unnecessary fan service.

The hype is significant enough.

Not really.

There have been "exploration trailers" where its just them spending 15 mintues walking around and showing the landscape.

It's going to be hard to explore your disappointment without commenting on the leaks

but having seen some of them, I'm struggling to see what could conceivably trigger disappointment.

It's simple, really.......they want you to be surprised on your first playthrough.

Amen brother.. I think they brought the leaking on themselves and now they are mad... They should have showed more game play then people wouldn't be searching on the internet to find leaks.. They did it to themselves

Before Skyrim launched, some bright spark posted the first 3 hours...

These leaks are pretty limited.

The recording quality of the current material (I stopped after 10mins) is also pretty poor.

This is the way the game is being marketed, the "old school" way so many of you couldn't stop praising before. Now the same people are whining about said marketing because they wanted jump on a bandwagon but knew not the full extent of what they were supporting.

Just go do something else with your time, stop obsessing over it. If there's not enough info for your liking then don't purchase the game at launch. Simple as that.

They said they weren't releasing it to avoid spoilers. Personally I don't see how they can't cherry pick a hour long section of exploration and combat against general thugs like a lot a open world games do, but what do I know. I did find the 20 minute leaked gameplay that assuaged my fears about changed gameplay mechanics and now the only thing I'm worried about is bugs which is why I'm now waiting for the review embargo to drop on the 9th.

I guess we will find out in 8 days whether it's "old school marketing", whatever that means, or something more.
