Why is ice magic so troll?

Post » Fri Mar 14, 2014 6:00 pm

Am I the only one who loathes ice mages? They'll just shoot ice at you and run backwards. Constantly. At which point you have no stamina and can't run, so you die a most pathetic death.

Because I am completely shameless I find myself just using the console to kill anything that uses ice magic. Does anyone else share my frustration?

Just play as a Nord. Or use an artifact that gives you frost resistance.

If you hate it to the point where you're using the console, why not try making a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQZYoyE0ew0?

Nope, cause 90% of the time I'll be playing one too. :b

Exactly. My Nord who rocks the Helm of Yngol laughs at frost like Crom laughs at 4 winds ;)

Being a Nord certainly helps reduce the damage you take from frost spells but, as far as I know, it doesn't decrease the magnitude of the slow spell that is applied to you. Or am I wrong?

I'm getting mad just looking at that guy. :P

I do think that frost resistance only blocks damage, and not the stamina drain or the slow. I'll have to look that up.

But you could BE that guy Harry. Not only would you be able to troll your enemies with frost attacks, but you would be totally immune to theirs.

Then I smell mod. Since every magic effect has a counter, it should be as easy as selecting frost resistance as the counter for the slow effect. Although first I should make sure this particular slow effect is not used anywhere else. Otherwise we would create situations like enemy Nords being resistant to the slow time shout.

True but if you're 85% immune to frost (forget the exact cap on resistance) then the slowing effect will only delay the inevitable death of the frost mage as he tickles you with his ice pops ;)

Restarties (Or w/e it's called) is bad man, once it starts...It never ends!

I have a special place in my basemant for ice mages. They usually kill me with the blizzard spell as I'm trying to chop their head off.

Fireball throwing mages also kick my ass and leave me wondering if the mage NPC has a magicka pool..

I have actual ADD, so I'm pretty much doomed/resigned to the restartitis, tbh!

My warriors always have hard time with them. And when they spam Ice Storm...

My Nords have had an easiee time, but they do get slowed down.

Using Archery definitely helps. Either that, or bob and weave.

Agreed. Potions and bob and weave until you're close enough for the chop. I get really frustrated by all mages, unless I'm playing one. :)

I have about 10 different characters that all have a specific style and set of skills which are different from the rest so I no longer restart as I simply switch up between them. I have a character ready to scratch every itch

Back OT, have you tried using Spellbreaker?

1.Become ethereal

2.Sprinting power attack.

3.Watch as the enemy mage's head falls to the floor(or rolls down a cliff).
