Why isn't Skyrim immensely popular?

Post » Sat Oct 15, 2011 6:36 pm

I am glad that kids (like CoD lot) don't come down to these forums or even play my beloved TES!

Generally older people play this lovely RPG... well I am not really old but I do posses one thing that generic CoD/FPS/Generic Mainsteam Title players don't have.

Can you guess?

It's a brain. :teehee:

Because you can't blow someones head off with a sweet gun from an epic distance. No but seriously, I prefer the low-key approach ES games take to advertising. I don't want to see Nord warriors slaying dragons on the side of Mountain Dew bottles...

I live on a ranch in Montana, near glacier national park (which, btw, is the real life Skyrim of the lower 48), and I don't know ANYONE who games.

Sneaking up to my room and searching the forums for juicy new info is a guilty pleasure. We aren't allowed a TV or consoles or anything here, but i have my ways :) muahahaha!!!

To the question of OP:

Because is not multiplayer;

Because don't have a soccer ball;

Because don't have modern firearms.

THIS explains everything :(

How unfortunate.

idk for some reason most people like garbage games like halo or call of duty. They arnt interested in in depth gameplay, only mindless shooting.

Know one knows what Skyrim is here, they all focus on Halo and COD.
Heck is remember once when I went to buy Shin Megami Tensie Strange Journey, the clerk was trying to force me to preorder that new Halo game, The remake one.

:facepalm:

I have this at my local gaming stores too, always about pre-orders and offers on releases I have no real care about. I remember the first time I asked about pre-ordering Skyrim at the store, the guy behind the desk had to ask me twice because he has never heard of elder scrolls. :cry:

:tes: All the way.

There are many levels of gamers, with many levels of taste.

Elder Scrolls fans have are the best players with the best tastes. :P

Seriously, though. A lot of people aren't patient enough with RPGs, or view them as "nerdy" games. They're missing out. Just tell them to go watch the 20 minutes of footage all over youtube, and leave it at that.

"MMMMAAAAAAAN Beth, nect elder scrols gam u mus put ak-47 and rocketlonchers!)

As any decent RPG game player, I must ask one thing - What?

It's not very popular down where I used to live, except in my little gamers' circle. All my friends are currently nerding out about Skyrim.
Up here in Chicago though, most gamers I've talked to have no clue what TES is. Single player games aren't all the rage in nowadays gaming industry, as that belongs to FPS and Multiplayer games - CoD, BF, MMOs, etc. Plus Skyrim hasn't had a lot of hype hit places outside these forums (from what I've seen). I drive down my street and see billboards with massive Batman figures on them, or stuff about BF3, but never Skyrim. :sadvaultboy:

Yeah it seems the same where I am. The best way I think we can amend this is try and convince people to get this game or take a look at it. I've managed to convince just about all my gaming friends to get this game. Long live our overlord Todd!!!! :P

Its quite simple, Kids like guns, find out about cod, beg they're mother to buy it for them, they get brainwashed, and I'm glad Skyrim isn't as popular, could you Imagine all of the CoD kids on these forums?

I actually managed to convince a friend on the west coast US to cancel his MW3 pre-order in favour of one for Skyrim.
One more converted! Another soul to be sacrificed beneath Todd's glory!

Do you think Todd would be offended if we started a cult to worship him? O_O

And great job on the cancel order convincer. The less money these big game companys that just spew out generic rubbish get, the better.
