The should have seriously added a spell like that. I have a hard time trying to pick up arrows .. they should have done like a detect arrows spell it would be much easier to locate arrows.

I suppose a warrior or mundane archer might lack the mage talents to be using fancy detect spells. And those few true mystic archers (like my character) who have the magic mojo to cavort with such spells simply use a conjured bow that, as said above, does not require arrows. I suppose it works out though, for my mystic archer totally lacks the skill to smith arrows. . . .
Okay, seriously though, a detect arrow spell is nice for those using real arrows. I used one in Cyrodiil and it was helpful. Given vanilla Skyrim, the best you can do is consider arrows that are easier to see (glass for example) and grab the archery perk that lets you recover more arrows from your victims.
Unless it has been fixed, which I seriously doubt as it is probably more of an engine issue and not something present on any priority list, if you leave and return to the cell, the ground shot arrows will be standing up.
IIRC there is some sort of limitation. Like only happens in exterior cells or maybe just arrows actually shot into a surface. I could have that confused (imagine that) with something else.
This could have existed at one point
There was a detect key spell in Morrowind.
That spell was INCREDIBLY useful! I want it back *sulks in corner*
