Why I love Skyrim

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 12:17 pm

So, I was on my way to Riften to turn in a couple of quests when I stumbled upon an excavation site. I proceeded to enter the site, and within five minutes I had completely forgotten about my original task. I was waaay too busy fight draugr and necromages and completely this new and surprisingly compelling misc objective to think about anything else. The cave was huge, and it took me ~1.5 hours of serious fun before I made it back to the surface and continued on toward Riften.

And this kind of thing happens ALL THE TIME. That's why I love this game.

There is a lot of flaws and issues with skyrim, but I have to agree the game does side track you in interesting ways before you even realize it! It is kinda fun =P.

I would say that "kinda fun" is kinda an understatement. :)

This is what totally pisses me off about this forum page. I loved reading the OP. But if you look at how many replies and views this thread has, it's not even comparable to the "Skills are worthless" and "why skyrim svcks" posts.

It's pathetic. I'm growing tired of this forum. There needs to be more positivty. Skyrim is the greatest game I've ever played and I beleive it to be the greatest game ever made. There is nothing out there that offers this much content. Of course there's going to be bugs ... it's the biggest game a console has to offer ....

The reason why negative threads get so much play is because humans respond much more strongly towards conflict!

If we leave ourselves open to the spirit of adventure, all kinds of things can happen. I tend to try and stay focused on the task at hand but like you said, getting distracted and just going with it can yield such rewards. I love this game and I'm having a great time. I need to find some dragons now...see you later. :)

I get distracted every time I wander from one town to the next - I start out doing one quest and then get sidetracked onto something else. I've been going everywhere on foot and it's amazing, I've only played 1 character since midnight on release day and am still going with it and still have loads of stuff to do because of the distractions and diversions found when wandering.

Skyrim is not without flaws and I'm not going to try to pretend it's perfect and when I think something could have been done better I will give feedback (and have done so about a few issues). But overall it is a very compelling game and a fantastic exploration experience, IMO the things it has got right far outweigh the few things that could have been better.

110 hours in and I'm loving it too. I just played a little bit of New Vegas and it's right back to Skyrim!

I love this game.

I love hearing bards sing as they fill the inns with music, and song.

I love how yummy sweetrolls look.

I love how I can almost do whatever I want. I can adventure on my own, or help the people.

I can stop and stare at a river, or listen to the might of the rapids.

I can chase butterflies...and catch them.

Their is so much to do, and so much that we haven't found yet.

Skyrim is one amazing game.

You either get this or lots of 1337ers trying to compare their e-.... well you know what on just about every forum of every game around. People love to brag and people love to moan, people complained Oblivion was a step down from Marrowind and now people are complaining about how skyrim has ruined what oblivion had. Don't get me wrong, there are areas which are a let down, in EVERY GAME EVER RELEASED, and some are legitimate in regards to skyrim vs. oblivion vs. marrowind. But people really aren't giving credit where credit is due, also they're not as funny as yahtzee/zero punctuation with their complaints and so it's hard to stand them.

Soooo very much to do, see, and learn. The sheer beauty at times is breathtaking. Tiny joyous details: butterflies, falling leaves, rushing waters. A wanderer's paradise. Thank you Bethesda for your vision.
