I don't have a favorite I love them both equally for the things they bring to the sandbox FPS gaming world and with mods on the PC they become even better with infinite replay-ability even after FO4 comes out.

Fallout 3 is my favourite game of all time. It helped me by being a escape when I was in dark times, and even in the modern day it feels like a second home to me. Fallout 4 and The Commonwealth are going to be my new home, assuming everything goes well. Everything shown off just looks fantastic, although I am a bit wary of the voiced PC.
November 10th can't come soon enough.
I disagree. Boone and Raul Tejada had amazing quests and backstories. Much more in depth than Fo3, not to mention the improved control of companions.
Fallout 3 was my first experience with the fallout world. I love Fallout 3 and I like it better then FO NV even. hate me for that but I don't care. And with the way FO4 looks... I can not wait for it. Its going to be awesome.
What the Mr House avatar person said basically. I like the dad too, and some ones like old lady Palmer and the bday poem lady were interesting imo.
James/Dad-> He was a pretty cool dad, I like his voice and his one-track mind personality was good
Old Lady Palmer-> I like how she had some unexpected depth in that the "nice old lady" character formerly led outside expeditions. Also I liked how she blatantly implied that James *came* to the Vault and wasn't born there right in front of the Overseer, even if that was unintentional
BDPL-> I found her interesting as a character concept because her cheery enthusiasm and her poem being so depressing tells me she's in a constant state of existential agony
Hey now, I'm one of those "old dinosaurs" and have never spoken ill about FO3. I've enjoyed both FO3 and NV for different reasons, while still enjoying the classics. FO3 had a better post apocalyptic feel too it, and DC had various places to explore, I even liked the metro tunnels. NV has places to explore too but you just have to look hard for them. Though I like both games I prefer NV more for the characters and story. I've always said FO3 is a good game, I even defended it on the NMA forums and have been shunned by that community for it. There were somethings that bugged me about FO3 like Megaton, a town built around an active nuclear bomb; and Little Lamplight a community run by annoying kids. But aside from that I still enjoyed it.
Also OP if you think there's a lot of people who hate FO3 here. You check the NMA forums they really hate the game.
Edit: Also OP I too can't wait to play Fallout 4. I'm just waiting for system specs to be released then I'll pre-order it.
No. How could you not like them? They were the "white knights" or "good guys" of fallout 3
Talyn above is spot on in that last sentence: Check out NMA forums for the FO3 hate. I like F03, there are some elements I dont like , but generally its overwhelmed by everything about it I do like. I also like NV.. some things I didnt like, most I did. 2 separate games yet both fun and both drew me in.
For me Fallout has to have some quirks. For the same reason why people dislike that people built around an unxedploded Nuclear bomb and that there is a community run by kids that expel grown ups (and really is a homage to Mad Max/direct rip)I love it because its quirky. Its not played for laughs (although the fact a religous cult now worships the bomb in Megaton) gets close its serious enough that people DO want the bomb deactivated. I like those quirks.. its what makes the Fallout games for me.
Im not as fond of racing around the wastes to find a Blue box slowly dematerialising in a random encounter.
Like many before me have suggested, there are people on these forums who will never like the fact that the non creating game maker isnt working on the Fallouts anymore. They will never like the fact that Bethesda now owns the license and will continue to do so (they are also the same people you will see who create the 'Who will make the sequel to FO4?' ie let another company make one!) threads. We just have to live with them, they can still provide valuable ideas.

For the record, I don't hate Fallout 3. It's got a LOT of problems, from story to world design to stability. But I don't hate it. I really do like the Mall, but it's one sliver of the game that's rather samey as far as environments go, and it seems that the bulk of the world is actually completely pointless to the game.
I much prefer New Vegas.
Lyons was cool. At least his chapter did something unlike the west coast BoS who are archaic and dying.
i guess i meant all the lyon's i should said that i liked how he started to give a dam that change was very compelling rather just being the good guys from get go.
