Why is my luck only 5?

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 11:37 pm

me and my cousin can't figure it out, first my luck was at 50 now it has dropped to 5 randomly and hasn't come back for the past 10+ hours of gameplay.. any ideas? it happened to my roommate too but his luck returned to 50 not too soon afterwards.. so any ideas would be helpful

alright i just checked the active effects tab and nothing says anything about damaging my luck (the number is red) so what now?

There is a way you can get hugely damaged luck in a hurry. It is quest related so I won't mention it here.

Best thing to do is probably to go to a chapel and activate a well to restore attributes. Or mix up and drink a bunch of restore luck potions.

I asked to have the thead moved because the spoiler was posted.

In Zero Visibility where you help the invisible townspeople, if you don't convince the mage to give you a ring and wear it when using the scroll, then your luck will be severly damaged.

Again best thing to do now is to activate a well or drink some restore luck potions. Then everything should be okay.

If your character's fame is higher than the character's infamy then the easiest thing to do is to go to a chapel and activate the well there. Unless you have spell absorption or reflection that should restore your luck.

You can also buy restore luck potions. They are difficult to make with novice alchemy skill. At novice level you can use Dryad Saddle Polypore, Green Stain Shelf Cap, Tap Root, or Worms Head (from Shivering Isles). With Apprentice level Alchemy, Lettuce can be used as part of a restore luck potion.

If you have Apprentice level restoration skills you can buy a restore luck spell from Trevia in the Anvil Chapel (unless you have Knights of the Nine loaded). But Trevia is difficult to buy from:

Oh, if you can't find any restore luck potions, just do the arena if you haven't, it builds fame really easily, if you've got too much infamy for that to work, just stop commiting crimes? Cuz that's alot of infamy

No need to make potions: you can simply eat the Novice ingredients (if you have Shivering Isles, Worm's Head is very common there; the others are pretty scarce, and Spriggans (Taproot) may not even be in the game yet). Eating an ingredient always has the first (Novice) effect.

Yes you could do that but you would on'y get one point of luck back at a time, and that would take a really long time, plus there's no gaurantee that you'll be able to succesfully harvest them with luck of five, seeing as how luck determines wheter you get ingrediants from harvesting or not.

Actually, eating an ingredient is as good as making a potion with a Novice Mortar and Pestle at your current alchemy skill. You can get several points per ingredient back. Luck doesn't affect ingredient harvesting, either. Even if your Alchemy skill is the pits, Worm's Head is so common in SI that collecting 50 over a few days in the Fringe would be no problem.

i was over-infacising, are you sure luck doesn't affect harvesting, i don't remember where i read it but i remember reading that it did... Wait, your skill determines your alchemy affectiveness, so if it's below ten, you'd get 3 points back, above ten I think it is like 10 points

In that case you're either pretty high in the DB or you just haven't done anything to raise your fame, by the way, what is your alchemy?

Depends on your skill level, and your gauntlets, for example fur gauntlets raise your hand to hand by two or three I think, and novice hit one, apprentice hit 2, journey men hit 3, experts hit 4 and masters five, but your strenth also effects it, though I'm not sure how much strenth equals one more attack point, somwhere around 2o I think, and wearing rings affect it too, and enchented rings let you hurt ghost and their lik.

I forget what it is, but there is some official mod that adds a place that has a statue of Sithis that player with high infamy can pray to.

Your best bet is to try the main ingreidient or the gilded carafe, they're both in the market district, most of my potions I make myself so I can't really (lvl 100 alchemist)give much help on where to buy them, sorry but I think I saw some there.
