Why so many crackpot theories?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:10 pm

I know it's fun to talk about what is going to be in the game and what people think might happen but do you really have to take it so far? Just relax. Can't you talk about the things we know are actually in the game instead of always wanting to know more and more? We are literally over 100 days from the release of this game, please for the love of god just calm down.

People can do what they want. I think people come up with various theories because we already discussed most everything that can be discussed based on the hard facts and they are simply passing the time until new info presents itself.

Eh, not saying the theories aren't 'clever' or anything, it just feels far too early to be doing it. It feels like it should be something that happens a month before the release when we most likely will know a whole lot more about the game.

But it's the things that we don't know that are the most interesting.

Why? Because it's the internet, that's why. You might as well ask the sun to stop rising every morning. Fallout 4 is months away and people need something to talk about in the meantime. If they don't have it, they'll make it up.

The theories have all been worn to death already. Every day I see a 'the kid will die survive/die' topic. I see a 'Vault 111 experiment' topic. Just relax, they don't need to be spoken about *every* *single* *day*, once it's been discussed it's been discussed.

I just feel that most nearly everyone on this forum will be disappointed on release day when their precious theory isn't in the actual game because they didn't wait to get more information about it to come up with it.

No doubt. And others will be happy that they were either right or wrong. But what do you care? In the end everyone here is excited for this game and feel the need to discuss it, however they see fit.

Because it builds up so much hype and mass hysteria for things that won't even be in the game and it ruins the excitement when it finally comes out.

You may not realize it, but you aren't the first person here to tell people to stop speculating. Once it's been said, there's no need to say it again... right? ;)

Again I ask, what do you care? Especially considering that's gonna happen anyway. I mean we all saw the effect the footage at E3 had, with the married couple and the kid. The theories will still exist even if people don't talk about them openly, the expectations too. It's how it works.

Then there should be a 'crackpot theory' thread too then because it is slowly becoming pointless because it has been done to death.

Then apply for a mod job if all you want is to police the forums. Until then people will talk about whatever they feel like in relation to Fallout 4.

Another thing, this forum is like people watching a fight happen and doing nothing at all. 12 people are on the this topic only 4 people have spoken. Either chip in your two cents or [censored] off if you're just here to snoop.

It's all conjecture on flaky facts and crackpot theories. I even saw a theory based off a theory, how ridiculous.

Which is their problem, not yours.

Are you new to internet forums, friend? This is the second time I've seen you display an odd PoV when it comes to forum etiquette.

I didn't tell/ask/imply that you should stop, just wanted to understand where it came from. Guess I'll add passive-aggressiveness to the list.

Passive-aggressive because I'm standing for my opinion, that makes sense. Even if that were true, isn't everyone a little that way anyway when talking about their ideas and supporting them? It just comes from my opinion is all, I just feel all these theories are making people get excited for things that won't even happen and it's annoying.

The wonderful thing about a forum such as this is that it allows people from all over the world to read other people's ideas and share information. We're all looking forward to playing Fallout 4, even those who claim otherwise, or we wouldn't even be on here. But many just enjoy reading what others have to say, which again is personal choice.

The diversity of subjects is also very inspiring, and a great deal can be gained by looking at the game from somebody else's point of view. This is why there are so many theories and ideas on here right now, and also why this trend will continue right until release.

For the record, even though I have worked incredibly hard putting my own theories together, I love reading the ideas and suggestions that other people post. And even if every single one of my own prove to be incorrect once the game is released, it will still have been a far better way to spend my time than complaining how rubbish the game will probably be. I am quite certain that the final release of Fallout 4 will prove to be one of the best and most ambitious games for many years.

Grass is green, water is blue and people on the internet jump to conclusions without evidence or fact-checking. Just a normal day.

What is the better thing to do to pass time on this forum than by talking about Moira Brown leading an army of mecha-mirelurks or that the Vault-Tec salesman is an android? Some people just do crackpot theories, either because they just want to joke around, or they're dead serious about it (which is funny, but it's normal because everybody has different ways of thinking, no?)

Me? I stick to the most accepted theories, and discuss others just for fun...

Or perhaps you would rather we all sit and stare at the nearest wall for the next 4 months instead of posting ideas.

Because, you know. Wall... Wall never changes.
