Why do so many people hate Twilight?

Which is almost a rip off of the series The Kindred. Though I don't think many people here remember that.

Funny thing is, in older traditions, vampires did feed on livestock. Not exclusively, though, but I believe livestock turning up dead was sufficient reason for people to form into mobs to dig up graves looking for "vampires".

So it's cool for dwarves, elves, orcs, dragons and countless other mythological creatures to be retooled constantly depending on the author(s) but vampires get written for teenage girls and all hell breaks loose. Get a grip people, it's the same reason the vast majority of girls call your high-fantasy books/games garbage. It got popular and you are the wrong demographic......

To me vampires were always dark creatures, whether they were evil or not. I picture vampires like Dracula, Kain (from legacy of Kain) and Alucard from Castlevania (who is a 'good' guy).

Hell, even Underworld has a chick as the lead role and those vampires are more like vampires then what Twilight vampires are. Underworld vampires are extremely badass, even the ones that aren't evil, twilight vampires lack all features of being badass.

Vampire lore and badassness aside, the twilight books are written terribly. I can write better then that and I don't have any book franchises that are being sold in stores, or claim to be an author.

There's also the fact that I don't fall into the demographic of 12-20 year old girls, which is exactly what the twilight books are aimed for. So even if the vampires were badass, the entire demographic of those books wouldn't interest me anyway.

Except, when these things get re-hashed, the authors keep the traits that kept them what made them who they were. So no, but nice try.

Besides, retooling "fantasy races" is a sin in its own.

Twilight is the story of a girl's stuggle to choose between Necrophilia and Beastiality.

Dammit, I've been ninja'd.

Santas elves
Puff the Magic Dragon
Artemis Fowl dwarves
And plenty other examples out there, it seems to me that you have it a good go though

Experience tells me that arguing against the hate is moot so y'all have fun being Hypocrites.

You're assuming those are all "acceptable" to those not accepting Twilight. Speaking only for myself, ALL of those are unacceptable.

Are you talking about Kindred: The Embraced? The one based on the White Wolf RPG setting? I wanted that to be good, but it wasn't. :P

I haven't seen a single scene but I know that they're responsible for turning the once awesome lords of the night into emo kids so therefore I don't like them.

That's all you really need to know. The only reason I know as much as I do is because I saw five minutes of the first movie and I've watched the "Everything Wrong With" series by Cinemasins on youtube.

I've watched the first two and I liked the first one but the second was...eeh. My guess a lot of people hate just because the movies were popular. If they wernt so popular you'd hear a lot less of it. Its fun for kids to hate, makes them feel cool.

Or, you know, how it just took the idea of vampires and [censored] all over it. People could hate it for that too.

By the way, love the Steelers.

One. It is terribly written.
Two. It is designed for teenage girls to insert themselves into the main character and pretend all the love triangle and drama is centered around them. That is why Bella is one the blandest character in literature.
Three. It corrupts a corrupted creature and takes away all the limitations that made them interesting. The Vampires are essentially Demi-Gods with a couple caveats in Twilight. The idea of the curse has been diminished and nearly removed. To overcome that curse is supposed to be nearly impossible, not easy enough that societies can form around 'good' vampires or 'good' werewolves. This isn't just a problem with Twilight though. Many mediums have been using the transgressiveness of heroic or good monsters for awhile now, often removing the core of their makeup for plot convenience.

Twilight has no Vampires. It has immortal blood drinking Fairies.

The writing itself is okay... It is more that the main character is just extremely stupid and unrealistic thusly creating a very generic, boring, and stupid story. (And I'm NOT talking about the werewolves or vampires. I'm talking about the human girl).
