Why so many spoilers here?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 7:09 pm

I've seen three or more thread titles in the past few hours that are straight up spoilers. Stop being idiots. Take those to the spoiler forum.

Blame the mods. Their job is to lock those thread.

You get 100% agreement from me. Even if the topics themselves may not be blatantly revealing story line info or whatever, plenty of topic titles say too much...not always to do with story lines but other things.

For example I hadn't heard it confirmed either way if a particular hybrid creature was in the game or not...yet then there's all these topics about them.

Thanks for putting that in general discussion guys, where I just wanted to talk about the game in general without too many specifics, to get Skyrim-fix while stuck in the drudgery of work. Now I don't get to find out for myself - by playing the game.

I suppose that's our own fault for dwelling in the forums a bit too much without uncovering so much in the game first.

Locking them would still leave them visible. They should MOVE them to the spoiler area. :P

I'll blame the idiots who make those threads and posts, first, since they're the ones posting in the General section to begin with.

Just report them w/o reading what they posted, it usually helps mods get to the thread quicker

Seeing as how the second thread in the pinned topics portion is titled " DO NOT POST SPOILERS IN THIS BOARD" I will blame the idiots who do not read first.

Correct. I'm just surprise that Mods being so trigger happy don't send that bunch somewhere else.

i come to forum fully aware and taking the risk i will be spoiled. you are asking people regulate themselves when literally hundreds if not thousands people are contributing in this forum. not to justify the spoiler though.

There are spoilers, and then there are spoilers, but honestly, how can you expect not to read a spoiler (at any level) when you come to a forum that is discussing the game?
Whether is right or wrong, if you do not want to read spoilers, don't come to the forum.

Unfortunately, you're right. Some people are just too stupid to follow forum rules and post in the right section.

I myself have fallen victim to two horrible spoilers in this board because some nincompoops not only didn't notice the sticky, but put the spoilers right in their thread title.

I get a bit confused by people's definitions of 'spoilers' though. Like, people mention dragon attacks or the inclusion of a mages guild and people are like OMG SPOILERZZZZ111!!!

What this guy said.

People are impatient.

Look at all the people complaining about "Skyrim" when they don't actually fully understand it yet.

People are impatient.

Just report and move on.

I use a very simple method that's never failed me, in any title for any form of media: -

Before posting I ask myself "how would I feel about reading this had I not found out for myself?"

There's a massive difference in what people do and do not consider a spoiler. To most people the fact that a certain creature is in the game is not a spoiler. But to some people (especially those into the lore and stuff) it might be.

To be honest I have no idea where the line is. Are place names spoilers for instance? Are all creatures?

Wolves, dragons, cliff racers? Which of these are spoilers.

I tend to try and err on the side of caution. But in general not everyone will and boards like this will always be a minefield if you're sensitive to spoilers.

p.s. The cliff racer thing is a joke. I have no idea if there are or are not cliff racers in this game.

I've been a member in several message boards where groups of people who dislike a certain game will deliberately post spoilers in the general section to aggravate fans. Either they put a spoiler in the title or they drop them randomly in an unrelated post.

Not sure if that's the case here, but I've seen several similar occurrences in the general discussion.

I think they should set up more boards like in bioware social network.
In bioware social network there are the general discussion board where spoilers are not allowed. And then there are campaign board, gameplay/strategy/build board, character discussion board and then the technical boards.

Here in Bethesda forums there are only four boards, 7 if you count the sub forums in the technical board.
When people want to post something gameplay related, like when discussing some strategies against those special creatures, they don't know whether it should be posted in the cheats/hints forums or the general forums.
