why no melee classes

Post » Sun Mar 02, 2014 7:48 pm

I just dont get why this game just has 4 hybrid magic user classes. I want to play a ranger with a bow that uses stealth and no can do. in order to viable to have to choose abilities that all sound like magic to me.

Or even just a character that uses a two handed sword, you cant be viable if thats your only skill.

why have classes to begin with for this game.

heres hoping they patch some multiplayer into skywind

You know there isn't anything stopping you from slotting only bow skills into your 5 slots, right?

Have you ever played an Elder Scrolls game? Just like all Elder Scrolls Games, you can *gasp* choose to do more than one thing. You're not stuck with one weapon and a back up.

Make a nightblade and only put points in the shadow section of the class tree. Heck, you could just level up the invisibility line if you want.

It's control to sneak.

Equip a bow and only level up the bow skills under weapons.

That's what I'm doing, and I'm one shotting most mobs buy sneaking then attacking.

Want to make a ranger? Get two weapons and level up the dual wielding line as well.

Want to heal? Pick up a resto staff and level up the healing line.

The class choices are really only there as a base.
You can do abything. In this mmo magicka bar is more of an ability bar.

We had a long argument on this yesterday, IE fan boys love hybrid classes, and will flame you if you don't like that about the game.

Bethesda is going to lose profit by doing this but they don't care. Number one class played in any MMO is a straight up Melee. Regardless of what they say, ALL the "Class" skills use Magicka for all there cost. You can either chose then to gimp yourself horribly by not using your class skills or be they hybrid that ESO wants you to be.

Even as a long time ES player, I agree. Why should we have to ignore our class abilities just to avoid using magic? Then we are missing out on large portions of the game and gimping ourselves. The fact is that somebody who wants to play a melee class still has to pay attention to magicka and they would never have to do that in the SP games.

It's a shame that so many people just can't seem to wrap their heads around this.

At a guess its because of balance. If you allow the pure warrior type to exist (and be as viable as a hybrid), they'd have lots more points to dump in stamina and health. Where would be the downside for such a class?
