but I also agree, the game is so damn simplified, I mean crap could they have atleast left the attribute modifiers from Fallout? since this is pretty much from the advancements from Fallout 3, don't believe me? then why is there a Command code for pipboy?
The usual PR talk here would be "streamlined, not simplified". I feel it's somewhat pertinent here, tho.
I would be against the removal of attributes or skills in any system... but TES. Streamlining makes sense in this department because there's no real choice - it's simply a matter of grinding. It's not like Acrobatics or Athlethics would have been something exclusive - everyone would eventually cap them, as long as they wanted. Customization is meaningful as long as it implies choices, otherwise once again it's merely grinding, and while some grinding is part of the RPG experience, what was trimmed in Skyrim was justified.
Now if what you're going at is the Magicka - Health - Stamina, and how it would be probably better to have a system that gives you more than 1 point per level and several stats (agility and strength for example) to put them into, well I could agree, but isn't almost every game like that?
Skyrim's leveling feels somewhat fresh to me. Yes, it's very simple but still flexible and enforces meaningful choices which is something very few games as of late do. It reminds me of the Souls games - few, radical choices that matter in the short period.
