I had a lot of fun roleplaying an orc character who was intelligent and well-spoken. He bucked the trend of savage, aargh-me-smash-things-orcs that populate the fantasy genre. He was just a normal citizen of Cyrodiil who quite enjoyed reading in his spare time. Of course it didn't mean he was a sissy, he could still wield a warhammer to protect himself, it's just that he prefered not to. :smile:

I don't dislike them I just don't play them. (I don't play an orc in WoW either as I prefer trolls

) I don't play brentons or wood elves either if it makes you feel any better.

They were included for no reason other than for the sole purpose of including more races. They were once semi-sentient monsters, cousins of common goblins. Due to their sudden inclusion as a prominent race of Tamriel, they have vague and half-hearted lore behind their conception. They don't have a province of their own, they merely inhabit those of other races. For these reasons, they simply don't fit into Tamriel as well as other races.

And they're ugly.

I'd like to note that they were always sentient. They wielded spells and had sophisticated metallurgy. They just didn't related well with other races before Morrowind. I rather like them myself. I'm a minority player though. I don't care for dark elves.

I disliked them ever since playing Daggerfall. Constantly fighting them in dungeons and eventually being set upon by Gortwog's minions. They weren't very nice.

The game itself does discriminate against Orcs, giving the Females the lowest starting stat of all (25 for Personality) but that's just an extra challenge for the player. They get strength, endurance and willpower boosts to make up for it, but those attributes don't make others like you.

I think the Orsimer are awesome, there's only one race I will never play as, and that is Dunmer.

I like the Orcs, I can appreciate their brutality and strength. But, if I make a pure warrior type character I'll go with a Nord every time. Nords and Dark Elves, a true son of the north!

Why do you think (very incorrectly) that I dislike Orcs? Only Elves with the fury to match the flash if you ask me.

My current character in Morrowind is a female Orc Pilgrim. I'm playing against type. It's a lot of fun. I don't dislike Orcs at all. Orcs are awesome.

Generally that is the most common excuse beth need to stop calling them orcs and change there design and back story but that is not going to happen:(

And the Altmer, Bosmer, and Dunmer, High Elves, Wood Elves, adn Dark Elves respectively are not generic.

Anyways they are probably my fifth favorite race. So they are right in the middle, dont hate em, but dont love em. Still enjoy playing them.

Me like chilling wit dem Orsimerz. Pretty cool guys and guyettes overall. They might come off as brash sometimes, but I'd enjoy hanging around with those kind of folk rather than the perma-drunk/perma-stoned types like the Nord or the Khajit.

I wouldn’t say there hated, well at least not as much as the Bosmer.
I like them, I like their lore, and I would be mad if they are not in TESV, but I don’t like playing as them, doesn’t fit my play style
I think much of the hate comes from how they are portrayed in Oblivion, a combination of their voice actor and stupid appearance made them come off more as dumb oafs than honorable barbarians. They were much more BA in Morrowind.
