Except there, they really mean it.
Except there, they really mean it.
Fixed for you.
Nobody is completely satisfied or perfectly pleased with even their favorite game as it's not tailored to our tastes...there's no such thing as perfect.
And, adding to what Haggar said, who owes you a "perfect" game that's "made to your standards" anyway? If you don't like the content being published, make your own damn game. This is clearly what works for the vast majority of gamers, and thus is what gaming companies are going to keep selling. The whole purpose of a company is to make money, and you do that by appealing to the largest possible demographic - which is clearly not you.
I am honestly a little baffled by your apparent sense of entitlement and superiority.
I'm going to start off by saying that you come across very entitled, and arrogant. That said it also sounds like your doing all your business off of steam, i'd recommend gog.com. It hosts lots of indie games, and some of them might fit your bill. Hell i just was on the front page and seen a few games i'd like to try, most of them around 5 bucks.
Also whats the last actual game you enjoyed? It seems that your allowing your...prudish nature to steer you away from some really excellent games. Sometimes you just have to roll your eyes at dirty jokes instead of wrinkling up your nose and turning away.
Honestly, many of us legitimately tried to help in a couple different threads other than this one and it just went nowhere.
OP, I'd honestly just recommend giving gaming a good long break for a bit and focusing on other things as others have suggested.
You can't find a game you like.
We can't find that game for you.
Your perfect game likely doesn't exist, and given your criteria, I doubt it ever will.
Even with DA:O you might have problems. If you're a female city elf, there is advlt content happening when your wedding is interrupted. If you're a male city elf there is advlt content happening when your wedding is interrupted. I lost track of how many guards and off-duty guards I butchered on my way to rescue Shianni. [or my betrothed, for my one male character] When the guards come to Valendrian they flat out say there is a river of blood running through the estate. Again, drug addiction, for all practical intents and purposes slavery, and mental and physical abuse. Baldur's Gate has the issue of your parentage, and child sacrifice.
There can be "objectionable content" in just about every game. Without the op's definition of what he considers to be objectionable, there really isn't any way to suggest games.
As they damn well should. I have that right. I'm living proof perfection is attainable.
He's already said he didn't like Dragon Age: Origins http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1519798-help-find-a-new-premium-game-that-isnt-darkgrittymature/?p=24165214, though for reasons that have nothing to do with its mature content. And yet, despite hating "dark and gritty," the OP liked Mass Effect 2, which http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1519798-help-find-a-new-premium-game-that-isnt-darkgrittymature/?p=24179666 (and which was intentionally designed to to be darker and edgier than its predecessor), and I never got a straight explanation for why it was so acceptable but others were not.
I tend to avoid games with what I consider crass humour, excessive gore or blatent sixism (note: I don't object to depiction of sixism in games, its been a reality in most human societies, I do object to games like TW1 where female characters exist just for male gratification).
I guess my standards must not be as rigourous as the OPs because I still find games to play.
OP, if you don't like modern video games, don't play them. What's stopping you? What force on Earth is compelling you to play the games you clearly have issues with? It's like me saying, "I don't like Grand Theft Auto V, but I'm going to force myself to play it, be miserable about it and complain about how I don't like it on the internet."
If you don't like it, don't play it. Simple. No one's stopping you, no one's going to be heartbroken over this. There is no force on Earth making you play those games; they are entirely optional and can be easily removed from your life if you wish. But demanding that other people try to make the game that's right just for you comes off as arrogant and entitled. If you want that game so bad, go make it yourself.
With me, it depends on the context. Games can depict sixism without necessarily seeming to condone it. That, I have no problem with. But when a game like The Witcher appears to condone the sixism it depicts, that's when I draw the line and refuse to have anything to do with it. This applies to any other issue I might find troubling as well.
