Why do we need 4 players to start a game...???

Post » Sun May 22, 2011 4:25 pm

This is very frustrating.......

To circumvent this, I changed server settings to get the game to start with only 1 player, which is great, but this then un-ranks the server. Please either give us the option to make it 1 player to start a map, of make the server still ranked when this is changed.

The issue seems to come from changing the gametype from "standard" to "custom", as soon as this is done, the server becomes unranked. No offense Crytek, but the settings you feel are the best for the servers may not necessarily suit everyone, and how they wish to play the game.

It would be nice to be able to change our server to have higher kill limits, longer play time, shorter lobby time and 1 player to start a game WITHOUT unranking our server. The vanilla options are not always best for everyone, and considering we are paying to rent our servers, it would be nice to be able to have more control over them without unranking them.

Well, it makes it slightly harder for people to boost (ie. no joining an empty crashsite server and just sitting on each pod with no competition.
Didn't it require 6 players prior to this patch anyway?

To hell with ranking set it to custom, much more fun. I still go up in rank and unlock stuff anyway. It's just challenges and stats that don't go up. Or is that a bug? But I agree I don't like having to wait in a lobby for people to join my server, they get impatient and leave too quickly.
Yea it was 6 players before so its not so bad now.

Prior to one of the server updates it was 6 and for a couple days now it has been 4 even though it says you need X more players. This has been fixed and even though you set it to 6 it starts with 4 and now counts down players correctly. But I do agree that we need more control over the kill limit and time limit.

It's easy enough to change the kill limit and time limit g_timelimit=XX ; g_scorelimit=XXX, BUT, by doing this it unranks the server.

I had our clan server set like this, also with 1 player to start a game and lobby time set to 15 secs instead of 45 secs to make the delay between games shorter. I was also earning XP and ranking up, but then all of a sudden it stopped, so I changed the server settings back to the vanilla state.

Please, give us control over the servers WE, the community, are paying for.

Incidently have any of you guys had the post patch issue of your server appearing offline in the game but you know it isn't, and you can see people playing on it via a server monitor? Happened to me and a few others with GS.com. Hoping it is sorted tomorrow.

Tbh, 50 kill to win games and 300 CS points to win should still be allowed in ranked servers I mean it's totally fair.... :/

Also I always find if I join an empty server with some friends for 2vs2, the game fills up to 16 instantly so no 2vs2 fun for us. Haha.

This happened with my Hypernia server. The patch was never applied. Have gameservers apply the patch and if they wont even check I guess its time to look for a new provider. Hypernia has always been good to me and respond within 10 min to an ticket even on weekends if you set status to urgent.

Yea thanks. I've put in a ticket I'll see how it goes tomorrow. That would explain it though, non patched cllients playing on it and I can't see it because my game is patched. Cheers!

It would be really nice for someone from Crytek to respond to some of these requests / posts to give us some sort of indication that they are/aren't taking any notice of requests being made by the PC gaming community - the ones that made this franchise what it is today.
