3D books are confirmed, you can view, rotate and read them from your inventory. It is in the goddam E3 G4TV demo. What is NOT confirmed is that inventory is realtime. Since the inventory takes the entire screen, as seen in the demo, it will be safe to say the world pauses while in inventory.

This fear mongering is totally unnecessary.

I want to know this as well.

Btw this sounds great? How could you not like this? So what if there is a second delay...

Realtime or not, that sounds cool. Maybe I'll read the books in the game instead of Imperial Library this time. I'm happy the regular inventory is still paused though.

Nope, MW had paused dialogue, obviously because of the often massive amounts of text any particular NPC might share.

Personaly I don't care. I only read books that interest me, but I open every book just to see if it's a skill book.

I mean that our characters read in 3d/real time.. ie we see the pages turn.

I think the previous system worked fine, why make it more complicated? seeing the page turn means a delay between pages. I do not like this.

discuss.

As long as I can see the words on a page just fine without having to squint, I'm ok with the new reading system.

Most people dont read the books, just flip right through to the end to up their 'books read' count and in morrowind I don't think you got the bonus the book gave(if any) till you finished flipping the pages.

You got it when you opened the book, in both.
Books give great hints, and info you wouldn't otherwise pick up in conversatons.

I love the new system....

Now the wait button will be pretty much obsolete in my Skyrim.

This. I never thought about it like that.

Gstaff said it a long time ago here in the forums. I think it was during that first wave of international coverage after the GI reveal.

I am all for changes that add realism to the game. This sounds like a great move.

does anyone have a link to the video cause this is the first ive heard of this?

if it were up to me ever menu would be in realtime so you couldnt abuse the menu system while in combat like you could in morrowind and oblivion. if you dont have your [censored] together and organized before you head out and you get ambushed and your not prepared..........they you should die an idiots death.

It's good...

Except for spells.

Because spells aren't objects you pull out of your bag. If you aren't wearing armor you shouldn't be able to put it on. But if you can't select your restore health spell because going into the menu (aka your mind) would end up killing you...

Have you actually seen this system in action?
