Why not release the game now?!

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 10:07 am

A ton of people had the game arrive early, tons of leaked footage is coming out, people are going crazy.

Why doesn't Bethesda just say F it and release it today; allowing retailers and everyone to start either shipping it or picking it up.

This would be a nice surprise and refreshing. I don't see the harm in it...

If some people get it early why are others not allowed to? (Not talking about the review copies but the legit copies getting to tons of people days early)

There's too much promotional material for the Nov 10 date out there to do that now, I'm afraid. I wish it would happen though.

It would be really, really good if in the future there would be some sort of system in place that would prevent people (aside from a few reviewers) to play games this early. Make a day one update mandatory in order to play or something. I believe that's how it works on Steam.

It's not envy or anything by the way, I don't mind people playing this game before I do. I may be a pessimist but a lot of people can't seem to be trusted with info on a game this hyped. It's just a bit annoying that so much information is leaking that I barely dare to visit the Fallout forums etc out of fear of it being plastered with spoilers. I've already seen some leaked screenshots on sites that aren't even dedicated to Fallout even though I actively try to avoid them.

Because my shipping day (digital copy) reads: 09/11/15

Wich could either mean I get it when the preload ( if there is one) begins or my retailer doesn't has it available yet.

Therefore: even if they would start now - some still wouldn't be able to play ;).

Because no matter how entitled you may feel, you can't always get what you want :)

... I think you are confused about the definition of entitlement. If I pay for something the same as someone else does yet have to wait longer how am I being entitled? I'm being screwed :) I'm not demanding the game be released I am just curious as to why they don't let it out now. There's leaked story footage, early copies ect. Releasing it now would be the best damage control and make fans extremely happy. Bethesda would be worshipped!

Easy killer, it's just another couple days. No one ever worshipped a company over a release date.

Because it has a release date. With all the things that implies - distributors shipping supplies to stores for that date, stores having scheduled Release Events (complete with planned work schedules for workers), Steam/Sony/MS/Bethesda likely scheduling tech folks & bug fixers to react to any Problems with the launch/downloads/etc....

(And that's aside from the issues of how game releases are planned around one another during the super-busy release months of November & December. Want to let people come down from whatever Big Release they got the week before, so that your game doesn't lose sales or run into server issues because everyone's trying to download & patch CoD at the same time.)

I'm sure that Bethsada has legal obligations at this point to stick with the 10th. It'd have to be big to go against a set date like that.

Yeah do realize that those "early copies" were gotten by stores breaking street date right? No like some special people just happened to get it before you. So just because some shmucks were able to fenagle their way into early copies Beth should release early. Copies get out for every game, and no publisher has felt it was necessary to release early. And yes YOU feel entitled to recieve the game early because others have. Who cares about how they got them right? SMFH people these days. No patience, gimme now mentalities.

Also, releasing early doesn't give retailers time to get stock in. Most games get shipped to retail stores the day before or friday before release. Then we'd have physical copy people complaining that the digital boys were able to play before them. Too many reasons for complaint

I have to admit that while I've been the picture of patience since the announcement, now that we are in the last week my patience is wearing thin. I'm even checking Steam every few hours to see if the pre-load has been enabled yet.

Are people so dense that they believe something can just be released on a whim?

I'm really curious what sort of mental gymnastics you have to go through to come to the conclusion that, because a product leaked the logical business decision is to throw the release date you've have planned (probably for years) out the window.

All that marketing tons of money has been spent on? Yea, just forget about that whole campaign. People who's copy has to be shipped? Don't worry about them!

What, save your lack of patience and greed, lead you to such an intelligent conclusion? I'm genuinely curious.

This has to be a comedy thread.

I can't imagine this suggestion being made seriously.

If it was, you truly have my commiserations :nope: .

On topic, I don't believe a ton of people have received the game early.

I do believe that given the interest, a few copies have found their way out of the retail distribution pipeline by the back door.

Yeah! If we have waited since FNV we can easily wait a week more!

You guys take stuff way too seriously. I am just impatient after waiting almost 8 years.

I know they won't release it today ; not a chance but wanted to see what the implications would be if they did as I was curious. Some of you made great points that I never thought of !

I know! The last week is always the toughest; especially with all the new info out. It doesn't help I just beat the campaign of dying light... Now nothing to hold me over. I already played FNV for a few hundred hours the last 4 months as well as skyrim. I tried fallout 3 but couldn't get into it as much as when it first released.

My faith in a speculative thread is restored, well done.

Of course https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe%27s_law applies, it's jolly hard to tell when someone is posting for effect, vs. true belief B) .

Why should, or why would, Bethesda give into all of the leaking information? I think they should stick to their guns with integrity and release the game when they planned on it, and that's what they'll do.

Of course they should. But it would be great if by some miracle it came out today. The thread was a hypothetical and I am very anxious to get my hands on the game. 6 days isnt a huge deal.

I hope for the next ESO game they announce 2 months prior to release. It would be unheard of but great. (Obviously not realistic but one can dream). The last 6 months waiting for Fallout 4 has been tough.

Patience is overrated. Only so much time we have on the earth have to make the most of every second of it :)

Hey, hey look, I want this game as much as anyone here, but to quote a character from Oregon Trail II, a VERY old computer game: “Patience. Patience. Worrying about it won't do you no good. We'll get to it when the time comes.”

Basically, it'll come. Don't worry, it'll come. For now, just go do something else.

What's another week? Go play some Fallout 3 or some New Vegas to pass the time.
