Why Nov 10 ;-)

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 11:30 am

Nov 10 is the "World Science Day for Peace and Development."

Please tell me that you planned the launch date based on this, Bethesda, because launching a post apocalypse game that date is one of the best ironic jokes of the year.

Its more like the busiest gaming day of the year and they want to try to compete with every other major game coming out that day.

It is because Sonic the hedgehog. Back in the 90's some fella got really smart idea and decided to do world wide launch. From Japan, Europe & last America. Bethesda is following a age old tradition releasing game at Tuesday.

Tuesday is just a common practice in videogame industry. Blame sonic and people behind sonic.

To why 10th day and not some other one. Well i guess Bethesdas marketing and PR group though that would be the "golden" day. Not too soon and not too late. Or Bethesda is playing with numbers 10.11.2015/11.10.2015 making a 111 with numbers.

These are in my mind the reason for 10.11.2015 Tuesday release. I can be wrong and i gladly eat my word with poptarts.

.. yeah, nov 2016 would be better ..

So they get enough time to solve all the inevitable bugs it will take the community at least five years to squish ( if we are lucky enough to have a team doing such a dedicated project .. again ), and up the rep of bugthesda

Hope they also set the code optimisation switch at compile time

Hope the mesh riggers have set all the associated data correctly

Hope we dont need another Sheson memory fix

Hope all the textures dont have layers they do not need for the job they do

Hope there are not a thousand and one placement issues

Hope there are not a thousand and one issues with scripts

etc etc

Ooh and hope we dont have a bunch of stupid people wanting fame for being the first to do x ..

.. using tools not suitable for the job. How to do fallout community shoots itself in the foot and nobody can trust mods thereafter :tops: top job guys .

As far as Bethesda goes, Tuesday never mattered to them in the past; Morrowind released on a Wednesday, Oblivion on a Monday, and Skyrim on a Friday.

The sole exception is Fallout 3 (and soon Fallout 4) which was released on a Tuesday. I'm guessing they do this, because the original Fallout was released on a Tuesday. Though Fallout 2 wasn't, but Bethesda seems to like to ignore it in general.

We know that the protagonist is a military veteran and Veteran's Day is the day after release, November 11th. I am pretty sure it's deliberate and it's certainly no coincidence that the date 11/10 in USA date format has 111 in it as in Vault 111.

I highly doubt it was intentional. October 21st was International Day of the Nacho. Basically every day is a holiday.

Fallible logic, nachos have no significance to the game nor would most holidays so that means literally nothing. You honestly don't think that Bethesda, who uses gimmicky release dates such as 11/11/11 for Skyrim, wouldn't pick a date that's right before Veteran's Day and also contains the vault number that the Sole Survivor is assigned to? Bethesda is all about intentional and gimmicky dates.

Personally I think October 23rd would have been even more appropriate if they wanted it to have in-game ties.

Skyrim was released on Nov. 11, 2011. That was their most successful game financially (I think). Why break with tradition? They picked the closest available Tuesday.

They planned it based on it being a Tuesday... normal release day for new games.
