Why October 23rd? : Fallout Series Discussion

Why did the Great War occur on October 23rd, 2077. Is there any sort of reference here to the Bible or any other notable books? Perhaps a different movie or game in the post-apocalyptic genre? Or was 10-23 just a random date that had a nice ring to it.

Its a date when nothing happens in real life so it should be declared Fallout Day.

More than likely how it happened.

Although on a slightly unrelated note, I like how the date was set in the fall. I don't know why but for some reason it just seems right.

I found one refference to Oct 23 1977. There was a protest against US Nuclear arms on European soil. It's not much. :/

I guess no one really knows its because the surfs first appeared in a book on October 23rd. I will let you guys find the connection.
