Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 11:28 am

i mean really. orcs are awesome! they run around and crack skulls and beat people up and generally look cool with epic orcish armor. do the orc players just not post here or am i one of the few orc players?

Your one of the few players who play as a Orc. I really don't know why, but I hate playing as an Orc or a Cat.

I have one Orc character. The problem is, they just have a really oddly shaped head. I really like Orcs in other media, but TES Orcs just look...odd. They also seem to be less brutish than I'd want them to be. Too little barbarity, too much stupidity.

http://ghastley.org/oblivion/images/blossom2.jpg doesn't believe you need that tasteless armor to look cool, nor do you really need to crack skulls if you have other means of persuasion. However, she'll keep carrying her negotiating axe, just in case there are others who are as misguided as you are.

Yep. I don't mind playing as an ugly thing but I would if I couldn't wear armour :)

I also think that orcs are a little too like warhammer or warcraft orcs but simply with human style clothes and stuff. So they look kinda wierd and out of place with the other 'civilized' races. For my character, The Destroyer, I was considering going with an orc, but the lizardman seemed to be a lot more vicious looking so I went with that instead.

I have three Orc characters - a stealthy adventurer named Lud gro-Dalum, a female battlemage named Lorl gra-Ornug and one of my favorite characters of all - Bogmok gro-Lob, the morose and insecure mage (see my sig). I like Orcs - their magic resistance is second only to Bretons and Berserk's a pretty good greater power. And they're the only race with natural access to drain attribute, which is a very handy magic effect. And I don't mind the way they look - it's just a part of their personalities.

The other thing I think thats a little wierd about orcs is their names. I mean, who's going to take you seriously if your name is Boggtok Ma Zugwogg or Bigbob gro-bigcok??? LOL :D

Does that mean that you also wouldn't take seriously somebody called "Hides-His-Feet"?

That's 2 races already. You'd have a lot of enemies if you lived on Tamriel...

An orc named Blossom. I love it! :D

In all seriousness, I think orcs are among the least played races because they don't exactly conform to our idea of beauty and "hotness", which are usually a determining factor when people design their in-game characters.

I like the orsimer race, and I think few people play them since they look very wired with the OB face-generator. That is why I almost never play one anymore. One of my best characters was an orc btw ;)

I guess we can add Nords to that list (Sten the Ugly, Hafid Hollowleg, Nels the Naughty, Maeva the Buxom . . . ).

Oh, and if your name is Buffy, trust me - no one takes you seriously either. So maybe Bosmer too (I'm looking at you, Adoring Fan).

Let's not forget Orgnolf Hairy-Legs.

(BTW, I like Maeva)

Anyway, I have been trying to bring myself to play an Orc for sometime. I think I'm getting really close. Actually the only races I haven't played (yet) are an Orc and an Argonian.

Basically because they're ugly. Their brute strength does not, for me at least, compensate for their lack of visual appeal.

I love to play Orc Battlemages. The strength, magic resistance and combat prowess is all useful. But I must admit that their apperance is a deterrent.

I don't like Orcs, mostly because of their look. They're dumb and looks like an old potato in the face.

I have only had one Orc character in OB and he was the best warrior I have ever had, but I
do not make warriors very often and an Orc mage or thief is not my style. Other than that
I have not problem with them at all.

Lol that made my day
I've never played an orc character because they are butt ugly creatures but then I've rarely deviated from dunmer characters at all and still never played a breton, high elf, redguard, argonian, or nord although thats likely to change when skyrim comes around.

Orcs are wonderful! When I play a warrior, I want to know that I can actually break heads. I don't feel that with a tall human. It's more apparent with an Orc. Also, the prejudice theme makes for some really interesting roleplay. Makes trying to fit in to conventional society fun, as you'll always feel like an outsider.

Orcs remind me of Shrek. :(

Other than that, they're wonderful warriors. One of my characters is an Orc warrior and I'm having a blast breaking skulls with my big hammer. :)
