Actually, I think that there will be one or two people who can perform rather well as lone wolf light operatives, if their crafty enough they can fool an entire team into thinking that they're on their team which can lead to some good opportunities in completing objectives.

But as the OP said if they believe that they can just take out every heavy they see, they aren't going to be enjoying the game the way they had intended to.

You can't blame them for not having this much freedom of movement combined with good shooter mechanics combined in a game before. Which is why I will be playing a light operative not because I necessarily want to be a ninja but because this class and body type combination suits my talents the best. It's not as if I'm going to run directly into the line of fire, attempt kill everyone while dodging bullets and be on my way. No, I plan shying away from the heat of battle occasionally acting as a distraction and mostly just trying to be as much of a nuisance as possible.

Its obvious that the problem is that EVERYONE is confused.

Some are confusing body types with class (Almost every person who wants to be operative wants to be light).

Some are confused about the generalization of the confusion of the previous group (topics like these are a great example).

Some are confused as to what I just typed above (its ok to admit it :D).

I believe that one way we could solve this problem is by first identifing the fine line between BODY TYPES and CLASSES, agreed?

yeah so long as people keep on bringing it up it will continue, however there are people who do think this.
On the other side though, there are heavies who think that no one will ever be able to take them down.
A far as i can tell everyone just thinks the body type that they have already chosen will be the best, and thats a perfectly normal thing to think, but when you try to make others think like you do is when you run into problems.

Well said. Read!

Hit and run is key. I've done this before. Worry about yourself, not about others.

Well I know that my light soldier wont be gunned down at all, my plan is to build him up as a grenadier - I'll get up real high like and support my team mates below by causing explosive terror on our foes, hopfully they'll panic and scatter making them easy targets for my sqaud >;3

Point im trying to make is as long as youve got a solid plan you can make a character work with ANY bodytype.

hey man thanks, now if i see random explosions i know where to look. lawl

I think they should implement the Portal Gun into Brink for Operatives. Then we could be the perfect ninjar...!

Having been Alien in the old PC Alien vs Predator FPS, you can bet I'll be ninjaing Heavies when I get the drop on them, but you can also bet I won't be running into a stream of gunfire just because I'm a ninja Light - I'm a SMART player, not a wannabe ninja.

If you take your shots then vanish before the Heavy is facing you, and reacquire your target from a different angle before they work out where you went, then you can chip away at anyone health, no matter the body type. Yes, their health regenerates, but not all of it will...

The light-bodies get their power from forum threads. Should these repetetive discussions continue, the lightbodies will burst upon the world like a biblical swarm of locusts. When combined with the heathen power of Operatives, their power multiplies further.

Too keep the world safe from this growing darkness, we must not allow these threads to continue. We cannot let the lightbodied operatives grow to full strength on forum rage; for if they do, the internet as we know it shall be consumed.

The truth is that the trailer gave off the perception that the lights will quite easily be able to do the things seen in the chase-scene. In my time as a gamer, I think I have only known 3 people who would be able to play the light the way many people imagine. There will be learning curve in this game, and most players will not be able to climb it to the peak; on the other hand I'm sure we will all see players utilizing SMART to jaw-dropping extents.

And in the same breath we will be seeing many Lights who struggle to make their head-high climbs because they expect it to be even easier than "hold direction and SMART button" and get confused and lost.

You mean a team full of Ops? Isn't that the anti-thesis of what Brink is about?

He said "Stealth" not "Operative"

There are many ways to be "Stealth" player

Silenced weapons wherever the option exists for the weapon. Silent running as soon as it's unlocked. Those two alone make any body type "stealth" - you don't show up on enemy radar when moving or firing, the only way to tell where you are is the direction indicator which happens AFTER they start taking damage. Lights sticking to unexpected routes almost exclusively. Heavy Operatives disguising and leaving enemies "WTF?"-ing when their scout suddenly does a Hulk impression and turns into an enemy with a Minigun (Now someone's got to do a Hulk-themed character and make him Heavy Op so this works even better)

Sorry to break to the OP here but i think you might be over estimating the Heavy type.
Dont get me wrong, i agree that people are hypeing the Light types to something they are not, but i also believe some people are putting too much faith into Heavies.

That being said, yes they going to be hard to take down, but the general theme for heavies now is that their immortal..

I have a feeling it's going to be like Sammy from Streets of Rage II (kid on roller skates). Fighting a Heavy is going to require all the ninja'ing possible.

:foodndrink: Sammy is one of my favorite fighting characters ever!!!!!!!!
